'Legacies' Season 2 Episode 3: After Handon and Hosie, it's Hope and Maya's friendship that has fans all excited now

In two episodes, we have seen the two characters comforting each other after difficult moments, leading viewers to agree that Hope and Maya have good chemistry.

After the events of the second episode of the second season of 'Legacies' where Hope confesses to Alaric who she really is and what Alaric is to her ("you're the closest thing I have to a father right now"), this week's episode sees Hope sort of becoming a student of Mystic Falls High as the two work together to hunt the monsters from Malivore that have started coming again. We also met two new characters in the last episode - Mystic Falls High students Ethan and Maya.

The episode also featured the annual flag football game between the Salvatore School and Mystic Falls High, with Alaric coaching the human school this time. Meanwhile, Headmaster Vardemus's supremacist attitude sees him advising his students to employ their powers in order to win, unlike in the previous year, and prove their "superiority". No one takes this to heart more than Josie who crosses one too many boundaries when she breaks Ethan's arm using a spell.

Hope is recruited by Maya to be their team's quarterback at the beginning of the game as the latter cheers Hope on to lead their team and win. We saw Maya comforting Hope in the previous episode when she was overcome by emotion at seeing Alaric not remembering her. In this episode, the tables turn as Hope goes to check on Ethan after his injury and when Maya comes out crying over her brother's pain and lost opportunities, Hope offers words of comfort to the girl.

We didn't see enough of Maya last week to form a complete opinion, but after this week's episode, like the viewers, we too hope she becomes a permanent part of the 'Legacies' family. Fans are already shipping Maya with Hope -- especially "Hopie" (Hope and Josie) shippers who are disappointed with Josie's dark turn this season. One fan tweeted, "I love Maya and Hope as Best Friends. They had that kind of chemistry. Idk That's it, That's the tweet. #Legacies [sic]."

There have been speculations that Maya is adopted and is supernatural herself, leading some viewers to think that she will eventually be attending the Salvatore School. However, one fan wrote, "I don't want Maya going to Salvatore unless Hope goes back though. No way I want them separated #Legacies [sic]." This is a common sentiment as most viewers seem to want more scenes between the two characters -- even die-hard "Handon" (Hope and Landon) shippers agree that Hope shares special chemistry with Maya.

'Legacies' airs on The CW on Thursday nights.
