'Legacies' Season 2 Episode 16: Lizzie's spell to exorcise Josie reminds viewers of Klaus from 'The Originals'
Spoilers for 'Legacies' Season 2 Episode 16 'Facing Darkness Is Kinda My Thing'
In last week's episode of 'Legacies', Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) and the rest of the Super Squad came up with a plan to save Josie Saltzman (Kaylee Bryant) from her darkness. The plan was simple - during what dark Josie thought was the Merge with her sister, Lizzie Saltzman (Jenny Boyd), Hope popped into Josie's mind to help defeat dark Josie from the inside.
This week's episode saw Hope living the fairytale that Josie's mind projected. But as Hope tried to save Josie from the inside, Lizzie and the twins' father, Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis) were coming up with their own plan to help Josie from the outside.
When the Necromancer realized that dark Josie was taking over his plan, he went to Alaric to plot to take down dark Josie and bring normal Josie back. His plan involved one thing -the Necromancer would absorb Josie's dark magic, something he had wanted all along.
Towards the end, when Josie was able to defeat the darkness within her mind, Lizzie was using a spell to exorcise the darkness out of Josie, "Magia Tollox De Terras." Of course, long time fans of the franchise would recognize the spell. A young Lizzie and Josie had used the same spell when they were on the parent show of 'Legacies', 'The Originals'.
In 'The Originals', after the Hollow, an ancient powerful witch inhabited a young Hope, her father, Klaus Mikaelson, went to Alaric to get the Saltzman twins' help to exorcise the dark witch out of Hope's body. The twins used the "Magia Tollox De Terras" spell to do so.
Keen fans noticed the throwback and got emotional over the reference. One fan tweeted, "That's the spell she used for Hope when they exorcised her Im going to cry I miss The Originals #Legacies."
Another wrote, "That’s the same spell the twins used to get the hollow out of hope!!!!! Little callbacks to the originals make me happy #LEGACIES." A viewer tweeted, "LIZZIE DOING ALONE THE SPELL THAT THE TWINS DID IN THE ORIGINALS IM DYING #legacies."
One viewer wrote, "#Legacies “Magia Tollox De Terras” brings me back to The Originals!" A fan tweeted, "Also...lizzie using the hollow spell...Im sobbing yall really bringing that back ??? after what happened to Klaus??? @LegaciesW @julieplec #Legacies."
