'Legacies' Season 2 Episode 13: Kai Parker finally pays for his mistakes in the ultimate catharsis for fans
After creating chaos and wreaking havoc in the prison world and then the real world, Kai Parker's glorious, bloody run in 'The Vampire Diaries' universe has finally come to an end — and in quite the poetic way.
To recap, in last week's episode of 'Legacies', Kai Parker escaped the prison world by jumping into that world's Malivore pit, only to resurface in the real world's Malivore pit. Of course, to no one's surprise, he is working with the Necromancer — in true Kai Parker fashion.
Kai gives the ultimate choice to Hope — she can either save the Saltzmans by going to Alyssa and preventing her from destroying the prison world in which they are trapped.
On the other hand, she can save Landon who is currently being held hostage by a compelled Dorian and is being taken to the Necromancer's minion for the golden arrow to be shot at.
Hope, at this moment, finally chooses to believe that Landon is a hero himself and goes to Alyssa. She talks to the witch just in time — which gives dark Josie enough time to create doors out of the prison world.
Josie, Alaric, Lizzie and Hope are reunited in the normal world where Kai Parker has been captured despite his antics. In the final moments of the episode, Kai calls on the Necromancer to help him but the latter is still pissed at Kai's duplicity (they never learn) and refuses to.
This is when Alaric comes in, dragging a sword along the floor. Alaric says, "this is for Jo," and takes one final swing at Kai Parker, severing his head and ending one of the best villains the TVD universe has ever seen.
While the end was poetic, fans felt conflicted and hoped that Kai still might have a chance to come back. One fan tweeted, "Kai is dead!!! I'm sad and then I'm not. Alaric got his justice for Jo." One viewer tweeted, "If Kai Parker had to die, at least it was by the hands of Alaric and him finally finishing the line 'this is for Jo'."
Another fan wrote, "Alaric kills Kai. This is 16+ years in the making in that world. Catharsis. #Legacies." One viewer wrote, "kai deserved a way better death than that. like he’s a heretic he should’ve been able to get out those chains by casting a spell and then doing something epic. he can’t die like this. #legacies."
'Legacies' airs on The CW on Thursday nights at 9/8c. The next episode of 'Legacies' will air on March 12.
