In this week's episode of 'Legacies' on The CW, the monster that visits the Salvatore School is based on Arabian mythology and is one that stokes people's insecurities and feeds on the discord that arises.

The monster was released from Malivore by the Necromancer in last week's episode, presumably to collect the mora miserium from the school. The Necromancer knows that the dark object would be enough to make him more powerful.

The first person this monster targets is Alyssa Chang, who has been kind of an outsider at the school from when she was a child. If you didn't like Alyssa before, you're definitely not going to like her after this episode.

The monster also gets to Hope. The problem is that the school is trying to celebrate Coven Day and in a nice surprise, we see Emma (from Season 1) again. While she tries to get the witches to meditate, the monster keeps whispering in everybody's ears and makes it a disaster.

The only person who can see the monster is Wade — a fairy. He goes to Landon and explains to him what the monster could be.

Landon had already realized something was wrong with Hope and was trying to find a solution. However, Lizzie and Hope start to realize something is wrong with themselves as well when they realize they are reacting too harshly and strongly to what anyone else says.

The monster gets strong enough to manifest in a physical form that everyone else can see — and its effects are still reverberating. Hope insults both Landon and Wade as Landon tells her that the monster only magnifies insecurities, not make them.

Later, after the monster steals the mora miserium, Hope, the Saltzman twins and Landon try to figure out how to get it back. When Landon realizes that he too is infected by the monster now, he realizes it was Wade who was keeping him immune to the monster.

Landon then realizes that Wade is the only one who can defeat the monster. But, everyone needs to believe in Wade for him to be strong enough to become a full fairy. When it seems people don't believe him enough, Landon fights the monster to prove to Wade that he does believe in him.

Landon's sacrifice is enough for Wade and he becomes a full-fledged fairy and defeats the monster. The mora miserium drops from the monster's hands as it dissipates but Hope catches it just in time.

'Legacies' airs on The CW on Thursday nights.
