'Legacies' Season 2 Episode 6: Freya returns as Malivore throws Hope and company a doozy with multiple monster attacks

This week's episode will feature the much-awaited return of Riley Voelkel as Freya Mikaelson, Hope's aunt who is a powerful witch. What brings her to the show?

Last week's episode of 'Legacies' left us with a couple of big cliffhangers. One, it turns out Professor Vardemus is actually Ryan Clarke -- Malivore's son and Landon's brother. Two, Josie found Penelope's diary that lets her read anything people at the Salvatore School have written using the enchanted pens Penelope gave them. The week before, Lizzie remembered the truth about who Hope really is, thus being the only one who recalls Hope's significance to everyone.

This Thursday's episode of 'Legacies' will feature the much-awaited return of Riley Voelkel as Freya Mikaelson -- the eldest Mikaelson sibling, powerful witch, but most importantly, Hope's aunt. According to the synopsis, she receives an unexpected visit from one of the Salvatore students, who from the promo we figure out is Josie.

Perhaps, Josie discovers Freya's name from something written in the journal and visits her to find out more about Hope. It is possible she does not know yet that Lizzie remembers who Hope is.

Meanwhile, a truth-seeking monster arrives in Mystic Falls during Commonwealth Day, and Hope and Lizzie fear that the secrets they have been keeping -- mainly about Hope's existence from everyone else -- would be making them targets. But, the promo seems to suggest that we will be getting more monsters as Malivore seems to be sending multiple monsters in this week's episode.

Finally, MG, Kaleb, and Kym -- Kaleb's friend and MG's potential love interest -- will seek out an unlikely ally who may have knowledge on how to take down the latest monster. This could be Kaleb's uncle back in Atlanta, but we will have to wait for the episode to find out.

Will this episode reveal more about Vardemus/Clarke's intentions? Is he working for Malivore or perhaps some other entity? Who are the two mysterious red-cloaked figures? Are they the ones sending the monsters this time?

'Legacies' airs on The CW on Thursday nights.
