'Legacies' Season 2: Will Alaric and Dorian find the truth about Professor Vardemus's real identity?

The question now is, will Alaric find the truth that Vardemus is really Clarke? And how long will it take for him to figure it out? The answers could come sooner than we think.

After the events of the first season's finale on 'Legacies' on The CW, Alaric Saltzman was voted out as the Headmaster of the school. The only one who voted for him to stay was Kaleb, the vampire -- one he had always clashed with, but by the end of the first season, the two characters grew to respect each other. Both Alaric's trusted second, Dorian, and daughter, Josie, voted him out.

It was up to Caroline Salvatore nee Forbes -- mother to the Saltzman twins -- to find Alaric's replacement for the new school year in Season 2. Her choice was Professor Vardemus -- who seemed to be a mashup of Gilderoy Lockhart and Voldemort from the 'Harry Potter' franchise. Played by Alexis Denisoff, Vardemus seemed fishy right from the beginning.

Vardemus was not only a stiffer head for the Salvatore School, but he also advocated for "supernatural supremacy", telling the students to use their powers against the humans of Mystic Falls High during their annual flag football game. Moreover, he was even egging Josie on to the dark side, giving her dark magic spells to perform -- and then gave her a mysterious hourglass-like object to drain the negative effects of black magic from her -- an object we are certain will have bad implications for her later in the episode.

Later, it was revealed that Vardemus was actually Ryan Clarke -- Malivore's son, Landon's half-brother -- in disguise as he brutally killed a woman who had escaped an enchanted game and Malivore.

So far, no one in Mystic Falls is aware of his identity. Alaric had issues with Vardemus -- especially after the flag football game, though he tried to broker a truce for the sake of the school and his daughters. We don't know who pulled Clarke out of Malivore and gave him the ring yet, but we think it could be the mysterious red-hooded figure who also sent a zombie after the school at the end of the last episode.

The question now is, will Alaric find the truth that Vardemus is really Clarke? And how long will it take for him to figure it out? The synopsis for this week's episode suggests that Alaric and Dorian would make an "alarming discovery" about the dastardly imposter. Will they find out that the new headmaster is really Clarke, or will it be something else entirely?

Moreover, once they do discover the truth, will they keep it hidden so they can trick Clarke into revealing himself and whatever sinister plan he is working on or will they confront him immediately? Hopefully, the answers come before this season's fall finale on December 12th.

'Legacies' airs on The CW on Thursday nights.
