Marvel's Kevin Feige says MCU direction will be clearer by end of Phase 4, fans say 'it's not worth it'
Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige's latest comments regarding the direction of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) didn't necessarily stir up any hopes for the fans. After the end of the Infinity Saga in 2019 that ended with 'Avengers: Endgame', the franchise opened the doors to the Multiverse with 'Spider-Man: Far From Home', and later dished out a string of TV shows in 'WandaVision', 'The Falcon, and The Winter Soldier' and 'Loki'.
However, one of the bigger complaints that fans had was the disjointed narrative and the lack of cohesion — bedrocks of the MCU's success that were distinctly seen in the first three phases. Barring 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings', and 'Spider-Man: No Way Home', the rest of the movies were panned. Feige shared his thoughts saying it would all make sense as Phase 4 inches towards an end. "As we're nearing the end of Phase 4, I think people will start to see where this next saga is going," Feige told Total Film. "I think there have been many clues already, that is at least apparent to me, of where this whole saga is going."

Safe to say, the tease is all about 'Secret Wars' based on the 2015 comic book crossover where the existence of the multiverse is threatened by war and cosmic events known as the incursions. Marvel hinted at these with He Who Remains ('Loki') and the concept of incursions in 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness'. "We’ll be a little more direct about that in the coming months, to set a plan, so audiences who want to see the bigger picture can see a tiny, tiny, tiny bit more of the roadmap," he opined.
That said, the news didn't entirely come off as optimistic for fans who were disappointed with the latest content. "I don’t think I’ve seen one phase 4 movie…." one of the fans wrote. This was seconded by another who said, "Yeah… besides some of the TV shows, Phase 4 didn’t do much for me. Still gotta watch MoM though." This was more direct: "I neither watch nor try lol. It’s not worth it." For some, Phase 4 was the least impressive. "phase four has sucked. the only good movies were Shang Chi and NWH," one of the comments read.
"Burnt out? No. Bored by most of the offerings? Yes. The shows have been disappointing. Shang Chi was good. Spider-Man NWH was great. Haven’t seen Dr. Strange yet but the other movies were blah," a fan chimed in.
