'American Song Contest': Why Arkansas' Kelsey Lamb had zero hopes of getting picked for show
Tune in to NBC to watch Arkansas' Kelsey Lamb perform on the latest upcoming competitive reality show, 'American Song Contest'. Among the many contestants competing on the show, country music artist Kelsey Lamb will be representing Arkansas with her original music.
The music competitive show will see song artists from all 50 states, five US territories as well as Washington DC, all of whom will be performing original songs as they compete against one another for America’s votes in a tough eight-week live event. The grand prize for the best singer will be awarded the title of 'Best Original Song', with Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson as the hosts.
Having said that, there's a good chance of the Little Rock native and Nashville resident bagging the prize. The show’s official website says that Lamb has gained over 2 million streams since the release of her first single, 'Little by Little'. Lamb is all set to perform her original, competing against several other popular artists Michael Bolton, Yam Haus, AleXa, and many more.

Born and raised in Little Rock and currently residing in Nashville, Tennesse, Lamb says, "What makes Arkansas different for me, is the people. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. Every time I go back home, whether it’s my hometown or traveling throughout the state, you just feel at home in Arkansas – and that’s my favorite thing about it".
When asked about her audition, she said, "When I first heard about this show and started the audition process, I had zero hopes of getting picked,” Lamb says. Not because I’m not confident in myself as a songwriter and artist, but because there’s so much talent coming out of Arkansas that I’m up against. I couldn’t believe it when I got the call that I was being chosen to represent my home state. I am so excited and nervous all at the same time".
Lamb will be performing her new and uniquely American song at the premiere song contest, titled 'Never Like This'. Her official Instagram handle is '@kelseylambmusic' so that itself is self-explanatory as to how much of an impact music has had on her life, and how her life revolves around it. In fact, Lamb started performing onstage at the tender age of 10!
She is engaged to Taylor Goyette, and the couple worked on and released their duet song, 'They Never Loved You'.
Lamb has also teamed up with her fiance, Taylor Goyette, for a duet titled, 'They Never Loved You', which is available to watch across all digital and streaming platforms. The playful track is written by the duo themselves, along with Chris Rafetto. So aside from being life partners, she has also found her co-writer and singing partner in her soulmate!
During a difficult tie during the 2020 pandemic, Lamb was able to celebrate several successful releases, some of which include 'Talk to Me', 'Where Do You Go', and 'Say It Again', among others, for which she received praise from Sounds Like Nashville for its “honest lyrics” and “powerful chorus".
What's more, she was also honored with the title of Female Vocalist of the Year, awarded by her native Arkansas Music Association.
Her song, 'When I Remember You', was written by the couple along with Chris Rafetto. In the song, Lamb revisits the good memories of an old flame, much unlike the typical breakup songs we hear today.
Instead, Lamb took a different path and decided to reminisce the good from her past relationship, instead of fixating on the negative aspects or even badmouth the guy who broke her heart. That's indeed a refreshing perspective and an entirely different way of thinking. Kudos to her mindset!
The singing contest will have a total of three rounds, namely the qualifiers, the semifinals, and the grand final. The final round will showcase the finalists representing their states, competing for the title of 'Best Original Song' of the USA.
Stay tuned to catch her performing on 21 March 2022, at 7 pm on NBC.
