In their first offline event in two years, CJ ENM has now officially released all three lineups for its Seoul, Japan, and US editions of the KCON 2022 Premiere
As K-pop goes global, the genre’s Number 1 Korean Culture Festival KCON makes a comeback as an offline festival for the first time in two years. On March 17, CJ ENM announced that the KCON concert was soon to make a comeback this year for their first in-person event since the KCON in Thailand back in 2019 before Covid hit the world. Despite the onset of Covid, fans were able to enjoy the festival in an online event called KCON-TACT (online K-contact) that took place over the last couple of years.
Now as the pandemic is finally under control, fans will finally be able to attend the KCON in person. On March 21, CJ ENM officially announced their lineup for the Seoul Edition of the KCON 2022 Premiere which will be held on May 7 and 8 this year. With groups like Highlight, STAYC, Monsta X, NMIXX, and more joining the South Korea event, the label has now released the official lineup for the KCON 2022 Premiere’s Japan and US editions, respectively.
KCON 2022 goes offline
With the grand scale announcement of the KCON 2022, the Korean festival is set to first premiere in Seoul, South Korea, and then move to Tokyo, Japan, before finally going to Chicago, US, all in May 2022. After the premiere, the 2022 KCON will air as the main event in LA, California (US) in August and then in Tokyo, Japan in October this year. The premiere will start in Seoul, Korea on May 7 and 8 with acts like SHINee’s Key, Monsta X, STAYC, NMIXX, The Boyz, and more performing for fans live.
The event will then move to Makuhari Messe in Tokyo, Japan on May 14 and 15, and then the Rosemont Theater in Chicago, US, on May 20 and 21. It has been reported that since these three regions are considered to be the key bases for KCON in the history of the event, the premiere will help ignite the anticipation for the main event in August and October this year in LA and Tokyo, respectively.
