In the pilot episode of 'Katy Keene', we see the likes of four young adults trying to make it in the big city of lights, New York. We meet Katy Keene (Lucy Hale), the narrator of her chronicled series and the daughter of an ambitious seamstress, late Katherine Keene (Samantha Smart).

Katy has her own dreams to fulfill, but does she choose a sustainable job as a personal shopper or follow her heart's path to being a designer?

In a city filled with dreamers, Katy wants to make a mark in the designer world and have her clothes sold in the luxury department store she now works for,  Lacy's. Having been the intern to  Gloria Grandbilt (Katherine LaNasa) for three years, she tries her luck and asks for a promotion to become a personal shopper for the brand.

Her boss Gloria asks her to prove herself by tasking her to "take care" of a royal client but unfortunately for her, misery loves company and her colleague Amanda (Helene Yorke) sabotages her. During the clients' visit, Katy manages to impress not only the royal prince but his girlfriend, which surfaces Gloria's jealousy.

Katy, makes amazing dresses using the same sewing machine her mother and her grandmother uses, and apparently they beat the dresses at Lacy's. When her talent is noticed, we see that Gloria takes the petty road and decides to promote Amanda to the personal shopper position and fires Katy from her department, when confronted.

A sweet and polite girl in her own right, she still manages to make "hags" for enemies, but who said it wasn't cutthroat in NYC?

In the midst of awaiting her promotion, her boyfriend, K.O Kelly (Zane Holtz) had asked her to move to Philadelphia with him, but her friends talk her out of doing something for someone else and live out her dream instead.

Coming from a childhood filled with celebrity designers-inspired stitching sessions, Katy seemed too bothered by the intense competition in the city. Rather, her talent gets noticed by another head in the department store and Katy decides to pursue her dream to become a designer. K.O proposes to the love of his life, and we hope episode 2 brings Katy's answer.

We get the first look behind the much-acclaimed Archieverse character debut, and it's safe to say that the first episode brings a bit of an "Ugly Betty" and "Gossip Girl" vibe but we're not complaining. In a world where money and fame are recognized more than talent, we hope to see Katy go from a "lower Eastside gutter girl" to a sparkling name among NYC bright lights.

'Katy Keene' airs Thursdays at 8 pm EST on The CW.
