K-pop idol Zico truly is an icon as he enlisted in the military after dropping the viral hit ‘Any Song’. And now he’s back on the day his much-awaited collab ‘Celeb’ with PSY and Bae Suzy is being released. The Block B leader enlisted for his mandatory military service back in July 2020 at the basic army training center. After his standard training, he was given the position of a social worker.

Zico was the fourth Block B member to enlist after Taeil, U-Kwon, and B-bomb. In the meantime, his personal record label, KOZ Entertainment was acquired by HYBE Labels, the parent company of BTS, TXT, and Seventeen. Well, Zico is now back after two years as he completed his alternate military service and has been discharged on April 29. However, his label shared that he would be coming back home without any celebratory event to prevent the spread of Covid.

Zico returns on the day of his collab release with PSY

Expectations are high for Zico’s return as before he enlisted he was at his peak with ‘Any Song’ topping Korean charts for 52 days straight. The single had also won 10 times on music shows without Zico appearing. It also topped the annual charts of 2020 like the Gaon Chart. And on the day of his discharge, PSY is releasing his collaborative track ‘Celeb’ that was made three years ago. PSY, the ‘Viral K-pop King’, also apologized to Zico for delaying the release of the track that they wrote and composed together back in 2019.

‘Welcome back king’

At the same time, the youngest Block B member P.O is the last to enlist for his mandatory military service on March 28. With the K-pop group’s military era almost over, fans are rejoicing as one fan tweeted, “WELCOME BACK KING #ZIco_welCOme I missed you so much its so great having you again, i cant wait. Love u king of the zungle.” Another fan posted, “Hit song maker zico is back’ That’s right, that’s right!” One shared, “Welcome back zico we've missed you !! Goshh the wait is over can't wait to see what you have in store for us !!”

Another fan commented, “I guess you could say he's back on the Block.” One fan wondered, “He's discharged on the same day that PSY's Celeb is coming out officially! He helped compose that song back in 2019 and now it kinda looks like that Psy waited for him to get discharged to release it (prob just a coincidence).”

Another added, “It's nice to know he's back! He enlisted right when he had his biggest hit so I'm looking forward to what he will do now. The most interesting thing is that his label is now under HYBE so I'm curious to see how he will work under them and any other artists that he may sign.”
