'Can't Control Myself': Girls' Generation Taeyeon to drop single before 3rd studio album
Girls' Generation may have gone on an undefined hiatus for the last few years but the leader and main vocalist of the group has established a name and position for herself in the K-pop music scene. On January 11, it was announced that Taeyeon was going to make a comeback with her new full-length album two years after the release of her last studio album in 2019.
Now Taeyeon is gearing up to tease fans with a brand new single that will be released ahead of the full-length studio album. SM Entertainment, the agency that manages Taeyeon, has made its official announcement that stated that Taeyeon was going to drop her third studio album in February 2022. The agency also announced that Taeyeon would drop a new single titled ‘Can’t Control Myself' ahead of the album's release.

Taeyeon to release ‘Can’t Control Myself’
SM Entertainment reported that Taeyeon would drop her 16th Korean single, ‘Can’t Control Myself’ on January 17. The label said, “As Taeyeon has received a lot of love for her colorful vocals and music for each of her previously released albums, she has now announced a new song which has raised expectations amongst fans.”
In 2020 alone, Taeyeon released the singles ‘Dear Me’, ‘Happy’, and ‘What Do I Call You’, while she released ‘Weekend’ in 2021. Following the release of her studio album ‘Purpose’ which dropped in 2019, Taeyeon received a lot of love from fans as her album charted on Korean as well as multiple international charts. Apart from that, Taeyeon has also released multiple mini-albums over the past few years which have been widely loved by her fans.
Taeyeon tops Gaon Charts decade sales chart
Taeyeon is doing well as a solo artist and is being loved and appreciated for her work so far. In her solo career that began in 2015, Taeyeon has recorded selling a total of 1,051,567 album copies. On January 10, Gaon Charts, the biggest domestic chart in South Korea, recorded that Taeyeon was the highest-selling female soloist in the last decade.
As the chart recorded a total of 1 million-plus copies of Taeyeon’s albums sold from January 2011 to November 2022, Taeyeon has now become the third best-selling solo artist after EXO’s Baekhyn at Number 1 and trot singer Kim Ho-joong at Number 2. Taeyeon is followed by SHINee’s Taemin at Number 4 who has also sold more than 1 million copies of his albums in the last ten years.
