Blackpink fans have been fuming about the lack of new music released from Blackpink members over the last year and a half. Blackpink last released their album, ‘The Album’ back in October of 2020 and since then, the girl group was MIA in the music department. Jennie, who was last seen promting the brand Chanel time after time as its global ambassador, now promotes the ‘God of Death’ aka Shinigami inspired by the Japanese mange, ‘Death Note’ as she makes a cameo in ‘Shinigami Eyes’ for Elon Musk’s ex-girlfriend and Canadian singer, Grimes.

Fans of the group Blackpink noted how three out of the four Blackpink members are focused on their solo careers, Jennie hadn’t released any new music for the last 15 months. While Rose and Lisa both got their solo debuts as well as Lisa’s third music video collaboration with DJ Snake, Ozuna, and Megan Thee Stallion titled, ‘SG’; Jisoo was not far behind as she took the world by storm after starring the JTBC Disney+ drama, ‘Snowdrop’ that is soon coming to an end next week. Fans of the Chanel global ambassador trended the phrase, ‘Where is Jennie’ for days on Twitter’s Worldwide trends. Now, fans can finally sigh in relief as Jennie appears an embodiment of a Winx Club member for her cameo in the music video for Grimes’ ‘Shinigami Eyes’.

Jennie becomes a Shinigami with killer eyes

Grimes’ also known as Claire Boucher who shot to fame for dating tech wiz, Elon Musk released a new single titled, ‘Shinigami Eyes’ on January 27 (Korean time) that featured Blackpink member, Jennie for a 20-second cameo appearance. Despite the short appearance, fans of the girl group rejoiced for her first music-related appearance in months. Jennie did not participate in the single but featured as a cameo star alongside Grimes.

With the star-power that Jennie brings, the music video has already surpassed 1 million views on YouTube only 11 hours after its release. Grimes and Jennie have been tight since the Blackpink member last flaunted her friendship with the Canadian singer back in 2021. For her special contribution in the music video for ‘Shinigami Eyes’, Grimes added a photo of Jennie to her Instagram story saying, “Especially my favorite pop star,” expressing her love and gratitude for Jennie.

Back in 2021, Jennie posted a photo of herself with Grimes on her Instagram account boasting their close friendship as the two posed in front of a SpaceX Rocket owned by Grimes’ then-boyfriend, Elon Musk. Jennie captioned the post saying, ‘Rocket Day with my fairy princess Grimes.’

Fans of Jennie who had been waiting for new content from the singer finally sighed in relief as she made a short but impactful cameo in the music video for Grimes. One fan said, “She slayed so hard. Thank you so much grimes for the cameo.” Another fan said, “The Cameo of the century!!!!! Kim Jennie step on us!” Another fan said, “That was just a less than 20-second cameo but ma'am is serving.”
