Jeremy Renner in 'critical but stable condition' after sustaining severe injuries during snow plowing accident

RENO, NEVADA: Actor Jeremy Renner, who is known for playing Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is in ‘critical but stable condition’ after sustaining multiple injuries while plowing snow during the weekend. The news of Renner getting severely injured was confirmed by the actor’s spokesperson who also noted that the star’s family has also joined him at the hospital.

According to the statement shared by the actor’s spokesperson, the 51-year-old actor was involved in a “weather-related accident” that left him with injuries. The accident occurred when he was “plowing snow” near his house in Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe in Reno, Nevada. The spokesperson also told Deadline that the ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ star was airlifted earlier Sunday to the hospital.

The statement read, “We can confirm Jeremy is in critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather-related accident while plowing snow earlier today. His family is with him and he is receiving excellent care."

A few momens later it was revealed that a call was made to the Washoe's County Sheriff's Office near Reno, Nevada, from the Renner residence and required assitance. The information was made public by Kristin Vitti, the pubic information officer of the authorities.

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Vitti added, "Upon arrival, deputies coordinated with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange for medical transport of Mr. Jeremy Renner via care flight to a local area hospital. Additionally, the major investigation team is currently investigating the circumstances of the accident.

The actor has owned a house in the region for a while now and worked with volunteers to bring 1600 meals to the homeless population in November 2019. Reno has been one of the worst-affected areas due to harsh weather conditions. According to a report by KOLO-TV, more than 35,000 people are still without power across parts of Northern Nevada.

Renner garnered universal recognition when he was cast as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and appeared in the first ‘Thor’ movie that was released in 2011. The actor reprised the role of the superhero in ‘The Avengers’ and went on to appear in movies such as ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’, ‘Captain America: Civil War’, and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ as well. Recently, he played the character in the Disney+ series ‘Hawkeye’.

Apart from doing superhero movies, he has also received acclaim for his roles in movies such as ‘The Hurt Locker’ and ‘The Town’. Renner received nominations for his roles in the aforementioned movies at the Academy Awards and won the Screen Actors Guild award for Best Acting Ensemble for ‘American Hustle’.

He also starred alongside Tom Cruise in ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’ (2011), and ‘Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation’ (2015).

Currently, the actor can be seen playing the role of Mike McClusky in Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ series ‘Mayor of Kingstown’.
