'Jeopardy! National College Championship': Fans root for Stephen for the semifinals
The first round of the quaterfinals for 'Jeopardy! National College Championship', aired on February 8, 2022, on ABC.
The contestants for the big quiz show were Stephen Privat, a junior from Louisiana State University, Jasmine Manansala, a junior from Rice University, and Ella Feiner, a senior from Princeton University. Stephen won a whopping $14,300, for his correct answer to "What is rose?". Right behind is Jasmine, with her $6,200 winning reply to "What is Venus Flytrap?". Last but not the least, is Ella, who gave in her answer for the same question as Stephen, and made $5,600.
In accordance with the results, Stephen successfully advances to the semifinals. He also mentioned in his interview that he spent some time in Alaska, right after his freshman year at a salmon fishery.
Andy Wood, 2020 winner of 'Jeopardy!' said, "There seemed to be a lot of incorrect responses, but congratulations to Stephen for getting enough correct as well to advance".
Wood made it to the show, to shoot a week’s worth of episodes in just two days. All of his episodes were taped on September of 2020, and aired from November 16 to 20. Wood ended up being four-time champion, and won nearly $92,000, and later appeared on the show’s Tournament of Champions.
