Jennifer Lopez’s stripper role in 'Hustlers' could well be her first step towards an Academy Award
'The Wedding Planner'
'The Wedding Planner' revolves around Mary Fiore (Lopez) who is saved from a near-fatal accident by the handsome Steve Edison. The movie is a heart-wrenching yet hilarious display of how Mary plans to handle the wedding arrangement of the man she has feelings for. The movie is totally predictable and everybody is making questionable decisions and not following their heart until the last minute, but that's the rom-com way. The Adam Shankman-directed movie starred Matthew McConaughey as Steve.
'Maid in Manhattan'
'Main in Manhattan' is a cheesy tale of a stunning politician who has feelings for the hottest hotel maid ever in an NYC Cinderella story. Yes, there is a contusion of identity, and the title is a pun that barely makes any sense, but when dressed up, the maid looks very beautiful and glamorous and the politician thinks that she is an unknown socialite. The 2002 rom-com directed by Wayne Wang stars Ralph Fiennes as the senatorial candidate who gets swept up in Lopez's charms.
'Shall We Dance?'
'Shall We Dance?' falls into the category where the power of dance brings humans together, and you have to root for it on some level. The 2004 movie revolves around a dance instructor/ relationship fixer of your dreams. You have the dreamy combination of Jennifer Lopez and Richard Gere. The romantic comedy sees a bored, overworked Estate Lawyer (Gere) fall in love upon first sight and sign up for ballroom dancing lessons., where Lopez is his teacher. Susan Sarandon also stars in the movie.
'Jersey Girl'
'Jersey Girl' revolves around Liv Tyler as the main star cast of the film and JLo's part is pretty small. Although the movie is a good love rom-com it more often than not gets overlooked. Moreover, we can see George Carlin in it, so there's that!
'Monster-in-Law'
The movie deserves a little credit for its campy ridiculousness and the truth that it stars Jane Fonda as an amazing wicked former newscaster hellbent on making life miserable for her son's fiance played by Jennifer Lopez. And Wanda Sykes as her sarcastic assistant. What's not to love? Oh! watch out for the catfight.
'The Back-up Plan'
Jennifer Lopez in 'The Back-up Plan' is as appealing as ever, but the movie smothers its star with unrelatable characters and a predictable plot. The story revolves around a woman who is conceiving twins through artificial insemination, only for meeting the man of her dreams.
What to Expect When You're Expecting
In 'What to Expect When You're Expecting' five couples are coming to terms with having a baby for the first time. The couple from Atlanta buckles up together for sharing and dealing with all the joys and sorrows of having a baby. The couples realize that parenthood demands more than they have imagined. The movie boasts a huge star cast with names like Cameron Diaz, Elizabeth Banks, Chace Crawford, Brooklyn Decker, Ben Falcone, Anna Kendrick, Matthew Morrison, Dennis Quaid, Chris Rock and Rodrigo Santoro. Diaz, Banks, and Kendrick are the women who get pregnant, while Lopez plays a woman who has exhausted all fertility avenues and decides, along with her husband (Santoro), to adopt an Ethiopian child.
Gigli
The movie revolves around Gigli (Ben Affleck), who is ordered to kidnap the younger brother of a federal prosecutor and fails to deliver. Gigli's boss hires Ricki (Jennifer Lopez) for assisting him with the kidnapping. There is not much to be said about Jennifer Lopez's Gigli as it barely meets the standards of a romantic rom-com. Some people also put it up as one of the worst movies of all time. Nevertheless, Gigli is worth watching just to check if it's truly as bad as everyone says it is.
'Marry Me' will be in movie theatres from Friday, February 11, 2022.
