Spoiler alert for 'The Wedding Planners' Episode 1 'One Funeral and Two Weddings'

High-strung emotions hit home with Citytv hosting a two-hour premiere event of 'The Wedding Planners' titled 'One Funeral and Two Weddings'. We were introduced to the Clarkson siblings who face the loss of their mother and gear up to take on the family business their mother so loved — "All for love and love for all."

Wedding-planner extraordinaire Marguerite (Michelle Nolden) is faced with the reality of an oncology nightmare. In the midst of not revealing to her children that she is sick, she continues to be a welcomed therapist to couples who chose her planning skills and warm nature for their big day.

Marguerite seems to have been getting chemotherapy without her children's knowledge but ignores all calls and letters from her doctor's office. Years ago, she had left her husband with her "three little angels, suitcases and a dream" and now as she seems to be withering away, she decides that her children should all start to step up with the family buisness and she brings them all together under one roof.

Paige Clarkson (Kimberly-Sue Murray) minds the books,  Hannah Clarkson (Madeline Leon) helps modernize the business with photography and well, James Clarkson (Michael Seater) definitely has a troubled past but has designer skills that could save the day. Each of them come with their own stories — Paige is a mother learning to balance work and family life, Hannah is in search of love while James is living it up in New York City as a fashion designer.

Meanwhile, there is family and business drama brewing. Sally (Lanette Ware), another wedding planner, seems to want Paige under her wing. Having been the lead planner when Paige got married, flashbacks show that Sally shared a warm friendship with Marguerite as well.

Hannah seems to be unlucky in love as she has to conduct an engagement photoshoot with her ex-boyfriend and his new fiance. Popular James, on the other hand, seems to have run out of money.

But, just the kids seem to have pulled off their first wedding as a trio, tragedy hits as Marguerite passes. Putting their mother to rest, they find out Marguerite left behind a slew of weddings for them to conquer. They come together to tackle two weddings as a trio.

Their mother said they have the best jobs. They get to help people create the best day of their lives, so come rain or bad budgets these siblings plan to keep their mother's legacy alive. Soon they find out that being on the scene of a wedding — either blooming or falling apart — takes courage, resilience and definitely takes a family.

From flashbacks that show the strength that the Clarkson siblings possess as a family to the romantic aesthetics of planning beautiful weddings, the first episode was an emotional start. Each character's backstory was introduced in copious amounts leaving enough mystery to wonder how they'll keep their family business thriving.

'The Wedding Planners' airs Fridays at 8 pm ET/PT on Citytv.
