Every music act has had its share of ups and downs in the industry but the growth of IVE is shocking. The rookie group from Starship Entertainment became the label’s first girl group in five or more years and from the time the group had been announced, it has been grabbing headlines. The group first made a name for themselves for featuring two very loved members from the now-disbanded girl group - IZ*ONE.

Featuring names of members who were already well established in the industry with a fanbase of their own comes with its perks but with it comes the drama. IVE was first called out for having the exact same hand gesture as a contemporary six-member group EVERGLOW.  The group broke through that controversy by announcing their new hand gesture as they headed towards their debut walking on eggshells from the very start.

IVE breaks another record with 'Eleven'

The debut from IVE was however quite successful as the six-member group broke many records in their first week alone. The music video for their debut single ‘Eleven’ crossed 10 million views within the first 24 hours of its release. Not only that, but the group also charted on Billboard within three days of debut, becoming the fastest group to do so. ‘Eleven’ charted on Billboards’ newest chart, ‘Hot Trending Songs’ at Number 1 for the week of December 7.

Now almost two weeks after their debut, IVE has become the fastest K-pop group debuted in 2021 to surpass 10 million streams on Spotify as of December 13. Adding to that, IVE has also reached a new peak of 1.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, again becoming the first K-pop group that debuted in 2021 to reach this milestone.

As of December 13, IVE also reported having joined the global fandom platform Universe used by many K-pop acts, even IVE’s labelmates, Monsta X themselves. This announcement came after the rookie group’s immense success over the last few days. IVE recorded 152,229 copies sold as per their Initial Chodong sales record while the group also took their first win for ‘Eleven’ at 'Show! Champion,' becoming the fastest rookie group to do so after their debut.

Wonyoung called out by anti-fans

With the group making it big so early on in their career, many eyes are on them, including those who aren't enamored by the band. This is why member Wonyoung was called out for her unenergetic performance for their single, ‘Eleven’. On December 3, members of IVE performed ‘Eleven’ for KBS2’s Music Bank, and the performance stage that was released a few days ago is grabbing a lot of attention from haters who are criticizing IVE’s Wonyoung for not whipping her head as energetically as the other group members.

Wonyoung was called out by haters for not putting in as much effort as the other members and bringing down the morale of the group. Fans, however, rushed to defend the idol and responded to haters stating that she was not able to do so as her hair-do was more fragile in comparison to other members’ and Wonyoung did not want to mess it up mid-performance.
