BALLARD, UTAH: 'The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch' is presented as a nonfiction docuseries, intended to document real events, investigations, and discoveries concerning the mysterious occurrences at Skinwalker Ranch.

While certain elements of the show may be dramatized for entertainment value or edited to enhance narrative coherence, it is primarily positioned as an exploration of authentic scientific research and paranormal phenomena.

However, as with any reality TV show, viewers should approach it with a critical eye and understand that some degree of scripting or manipulation for dramatic effect may be involved.

‘The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch’ owner Brandon Fugal talks about encountering 'a UFO sighting in broad daylight with multiple witnesses'

When Brandon Fugal acquired Skinwalker Ranch in 2016, he never anticipated encountering anything supernatural. Initially a skeptic, Fugal's intention was solely scientific research, aiming to investigate the purported paranormal activities on the property.

"I purchased the ranch from billionaire Robert Bigelow with the aim of conducting scientific research to assess the validity of the extraordinary claims surrounding paranormal phenomena," Fugal revealed to Newsweek in April 2022.

Despite his initial skepticism, Fugal's perspective shifted dramatically after experiencing his own undeniable UFO sighting in broad daylight, witnessed by multiple individuals. This encounter was a turning point for him.

Initially, Fugal had intended to keep his ownership of the ranch confidential, requiring strict confidentiality agreements and liability waivers from those involved. However, he eventually decided to go public, spurred by his involvement in the History Channel docuseries and the ongoing investigation.

When questioned about his motives and whether he sought to profit from the ranch's paranormal reputation, Fugal clarified that he hadn't personally gained financially from the endeavor. His primary focus remains on scientific exploration rather than personal gain.

Where did 'Skinwalker Ranch' get its name from?

'Skinwalker Ranch' derives its name from the legend of skinwalkers, mythical beings in Navajo culture.

According to these legends, skinwalkers are malevolent witches who practice a twisted form of healing arts taught to healers. These healers are trained in both benevolent and malevolent magic, but skinwalkers choose to embrace the darker aspects for malicious purposes.

The name 'Skinwalkers' is derived from their purported ability to transform into, inhabit, or masquerade as animals. Additionally, it's believed that skinwalkers can possess not only animals but also humans, simply by making eye contact with their victims.

How did the 'Skinwalker Ranch' become so famous?

The reputation of 'Skinwalker Ranch' escalated due to a series of UFO reports and sightings in the 1970s, primarily occurring in the Uintah Basin.

However, the association between the ranch and extraterrestrial phenomena was solidified in 1996. Journalist George Knapp published a series of articles in the Las Vegas Mercury detailing bizarre and frightening events reported by a family who owned and lived on the property.

These articles caught the attention of the public, and Knapp later collaborated with Colm Kelleher to write a book. The book explored the National Institute for Discovery Science's involvement in acquiring the ranch to study the strange occurrences reported there, including sightings of glowing orbs, UFOs, and other fantastical creatures.
