Sublime Artists Agency, the label that manages idols like Rain, GOT7’s Youngjae, Jung Yerin, and many others, have officially issued a statement calling out malicious commenters who have been bullying K-pop idol and actor, Rain. In their official statement, released on January 14, Rain's agency, also known as SAA, informed fans that they are aware of the defamatory online activities against singer Rain who is currently acting as Cha Young Min on the tvN drama, ‘Ghost Doctor’

In their official statement, Sublime Artist Agency said, “We are aware that videos created based on false facts about our artist Rain (Jung Ji-hoon) are being distributed indiscriminately.” SAA also reported that they had found a number of posts and comments that were spreading unverified and malicious comments defaming the idol while spreading false facts and slandering Rain online. Sublime Artists Agency noted that they are going to take strict legal action against such posters.

SAA to sue 'fake news' YouTube accounts

The report from Rain’s label addressed the ongoing plethora of YouTube videos that allegedly claim that the idol actor was stingy and did not treat his juniors to a meal. SAA in their official statement said, “YouTubers who create fake news for the sake of views and those who process and redistribute them will also be held accountable for. We plan to take all possible legal actions against online users that engage in actions that cause damage to artists."

Legendary singer Rain is now drawing a lot of attention to himself over this 13-year-old claim about Rain being stingy despite being well to do. According to media reports, former entertainment journalist Lee Jin-ho had stated, “Rain has made 80 billion won, but he is a stingy man. Why?”

Truth about Rain's reputation

There are mixed reports from many online posters that quoted entertainment journalist Lee Jin-ho. Jin-ho was once caught saying, “It is true that when I asked most entertainment staff about how Rain spends his money, the singer does have a reputation of being stingy.” But he was seen going back on his own words saying, “Most of them also said that Rain often gave gifts and bought a lot of meals compared to his reputation.”

Reports alleging that Rain was stingy despite his wealth highlight statements from singer Kim Tae-woo who had on one supposed instance joked about how Rain made him pay for a meal while he earned ten times more than Tae-woo on a radio show back in September of 2009. In the said statement, Kim Tae-woo was heard saying, “I was out on vacation and went out with Rain, and I paid for the meal. Rain earns ten times more than me, but I paid for the meal with my soldier salary. Rain is surprisingly a stingy person.”
