“I work out really, really hard. To each their own for everything, but no, I don’t take it,” Melissa told the host of the show Sherri Shephard.
The reality star, accompanied by her husband Joe Gorga on the show, expressed satisfaction with her fellow cast members who are using the weight loss medication and experiencing positive results. She mentioned that she is pleased that they are feeling good and looking good as a result of taking the drug.
The topic came up after Shephard recalled comments from Dolores Catania and Margaret Josephs, who mentioned that "most of the cast" had used the medication for Type 2 diabetes as a means to lose weight. This sparked a discussion among the group about the medication's use for weight loss purposes.
“I don’t know why [people are quiet about it] because there’s no shame in it," Dolores shared on the May 2 episode. The Bravo housewife went on to say, “If a doctor gives it to you, if you’re doing things right, you’re becoming healthier by losing weight, it’s a bunch of great things that come along with this.”
She noted that she has reached the same weight she was in high school and has no plans to discontinue her use of Ozempic. Margaret chimed in, “After menopause, it’s so hard to lose weight. And then you’re shamed for it if you’re heavy.”
Talking of the medication, she continued, "It shuts off that food noise, my blood work is great. … [Before Ozempic] I couldn’t do anything. It doesn’t matter if I was eating right, exercising, so I don’t know why there’s any shame in it if it’s helpful to people.”
