Is Lauren Conrad quitting reality TV? ‘Laguna Beach’ star drops bombshell ahead of the reunion
After briefly stepping back into the spotlight with a nostalgic reunion, Lauren Conrad is making one thing pretty clear: she is not planning to stick around reality television any longer than necessary. The former reality star recently opened up about her decision during a candid chat with Kristin Cavallari, and her thoughts leave very little room for doubt. The conversation took place on Cavallari’s Dear Media podcast ‘Let’s Be Honest’, in an episode released on April 7. There, Conrad speaks openly about why she agreed to return for ‘The Reunion: Laguna Beach’ and what it means for her future. “I would love to put a pin in my career… it would be really cool to end my career with the same people I started it with,” Conrad shared during the episode.
She went on to explain that, “The same group of people I started with, I can also say goodbye with ... it felt clean,” before trailing off slightly, as if searching for the right way to sum it all up. Cavallari jumped in to finish the thought, adding, “...hang up that entertainment hat.” For those who followed their journeys, the moment carries a certain weight. Both Conrad and Cavallari first appeared on ‘Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County’ back in 2004. Conrad later moved on to ‘The Hills’ in 2006, where her life in Los Angeles played out on screen until her exit in 2009. Cavallari eventually stepped into that space, continuing the show’s run. Fast forward to now, and the reunion special feels like a full-circle moment.
‘The Reunion: Laguna Beach’ is set to stream on The Roku Channel starting April 10. A preview for the special shows Conrad and Cavallari sitting by a fire, reflecting on their shared past. They acknowledge that they had “never had a conversation on camera, just the two of us.” The special also features a group sit-down led by comedian Casey Wilson, where the cast looks back on old tensions, high school drama, and moments that shaped their lives over 20 years ago. Still, for Conrad, this return does not signal a renewed interest in the genre that made her famous. When Cavallari directly asked her, “This is for sure your last thing?” Conrad did not hesitate much before responding, “God, I hope so.”
She also spoke about how she feels looking back at her time in reality TV, and it turns out, there is no sense of longing there. “I feel so lucky because you know, it can go a lot of ways when you've been in entertainment for a long time. And I think a lot of people really miss it. And I didn't,” she said. Conrad added that she appreciated the experience for what it was, without feeling the need to hold onto it. “I enjoyed it while I had it,” she expressed. “We had fun and I'm really grateful for the opportunity and I know that, because I did all that, I'm able to live the life I live now. But I love just being with my fam and my friends and living a quieter life.”
