Why is Candiace Dillard Bassett leaving 'RHOP'?
Candiace has finally confirmed her departure from 'RHOP' following a season full of controversy. Candiace, who originally appeared on the Bravo reality series in its third season, announced her decision to depart the show after six years, just in time for the Season 8 Reunion.
"As I embark on a new chapter after six remarkable years with The Real Housewives of Potomac, I am filled with gratitude for the enriching friendships, personal growth, and moments of introspection that have defined this journey," she said in a statement to PEOPLE.
"With a whirlwind of new opportunities and responsibilities on my plate, I have decided to take a break from RHOP."
Nevertheless, the reality star revealed that her departure may not be permanent, telling the source, "This is not a farewell, but a 'see you later.'"
She ended her remarks with a message for her admirers. "Your unwavering support has been my guiding light, and I look forward to the exciting adventures that lie ahead—and more importantly, sharing them all with you!" she went on to say.
Chris Bassett reacts to criticism against Candiace Dillard Bassett's 'light-skinned' babies remarks
Candiace gets into problems both on and off 'RHOP' because of her mouth. Chris is always willing to stand up for her.
The uproar surrounding Candiace most recently arose from her remarks regarding her concern about having "light-skinned" children. That surprised a lot of people.
Chris phoned into the radio program 'Way Up With Angela Yee', where Candiace is presently a guest host, to defend his wife. He attempted to provide some context for his wife's remarks, stating that he didn't understand why everyone was so shocked by them.
"I don’t know why everybody is so angry right now. My Twitter is blowing up," Chris argued.
"Candiace and I have had this conversation since, probably, the day we met,” he added. “People can have their preferences."

Chris revealed to Candiace over the phone that they had been making jokes for years about their preferred skin tones. He said his wife understands quite well that "she's not getting dark-skinned babies."
According to Chris, it isn't "scientifically possible." Chris says there's no need for anyone to become upset over what Candiace said.
He admitted that he finds it difficult to see why someone might be angry. He contrasted her statement that she didn't want her children to have a certain skin tone with his want for his children to have "luscious, thick hair."
Chris opined, "I started going bald at eighteen. Is it bad for me to say that I want my kids to have hair?"
Where is 'RHOP' husband Chris Bassett now?
We've followed up with Chris throughout the years as he's worked as a restaurant co-owner, cooking class teacher, and personal chef, but the entrepreneur now has something else on the menu. On the March 3 episode of 'Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen', Chris tended the bar in the Clubhouse with his wife and 'WWHL' guest Cynthia Bailey.
During the After Show, Chris joyfully disclosed that he had launched his own "spice line," Bassett's Blends, and gave host Andy Cohen a bunch of spices from the new company.
In addition to his new spice line and putting his experience to work in catering and private culinary lessons, Chris will issue his first e-book cookbook, "A Few of My Favorite Things," in April 2023, containing 12 of his favorite dishes. Furthermore, in a 2021 interview with The Daily Dish, Chris mentioned his love of sauces.
Fans may certainly expect a sauce line shortly from the Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef.
