Marvel Studios is quietly assembling hype for ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ and it’s doing so in a way fans don’t often get to experience anymore: exclusively in theaters. A brand-new trailer for the MCU crossover has begun playing ahead of screenings of ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash,’ replacing the earlier teaser that debuted in cinemas on December 18. Unlike typical Marvel marketing drops, this second trailer has not been released online. The new footage shifts the spotlight squarely onto Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and presents a surprisingly intimate and emotional tone.

The trailer opens with Thor walking alone through a forest, his voice carrying a solemn prayer. The sequence cuts to a tender moment of Thor kissing the forehead of his daughter, Love, as she lies resting in bed. As quoted by USA Today, “Father, all my life, I have answered every call, to honor, duty, to war,” Thor says in the trailer. “But now, fate has given me something I never sought: A child. A life untouched by the storm.” His monologue continues, “Lend me the strength of the All-Fathers, so that I may fight once more, defeat one more enemy, and return home to her, not as a warrior, but as warmth. To teach her not battle, but stillness, the kind I never knew. Please, father. Heed my words.”

As with the first teaser, the trailer closes with a title card confirming that Thor will return in ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ followed by a countdown to the film’s December 2026 release. While it doesn’t reveal plot specifics or action-heavy moments, the trailer delivers something just as important: confirmation that Love, Thor’s adopted daughter, will appear in the film. Love was introduced in 2022’s ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ as the daughter of Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale. Following Gorr’s death at the end of the film, Thor adopted Love and vowed to raise her as his own.

The movie concluded with the implication that Thor and Love, portrayed by Hemsworth’s real-life daughter, India Hemsworth, would continue adventuring together. The film is also set to reunite Thor with Loki, as Tom Hiddleston appears on the official cast list, raising expectations for another reunion between the brothers. This Thor-centric trailer follows the first ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ teaser, which also premiered exclusively in theaters in front of ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash.’ That earlier footage focused on Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, as per The Guardian.

It shows the former Captain America returning to the home he shares with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) after the events of ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ now holding a baby. Taken together, the first two trailers strongly suggest that ‘Doomsday’ may revolve around themes of family and parenthood rather than just world-ending threats. At this point, Marvel has not confirmed how many additional ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ trailers are planned or when they might debut. For now, fans eager for the next glimpse of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will need to head to theaters. Moreover, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on December 18, 2026.
