In March 2021, David Heyman secured the rights to adapt Liane Moriarty's novel 'Apples Never Fall' for television. The project received a straight-to-series order from Peacock in February 2022.

The cast, including Annette Bening, Sam Neill, Alison Brie, and Jake Lacy, was announced in February 2023. Additional members, such as Georgia Flood, Conor Merrigan Turner, Essie Randles, Jeanine Serralles, and Dylan Thuraisingham, joined in March.

Katrina Lenk, Timm Sharp, and Nate Mann were among the six actors cast in recurring roles in June. Filming commenced in Queensland, Australia, and London, England, in March 2023.

However, production faced a setback in July due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, leading to a temporary suspension.
