The reality star shared the news about adding a new member to their family on her Instagram account. But while the sweet video of the puppy meeting its new family made many fans gush over the cuteness, a few netizens were quick to recall the infamous ‘puppygate’ scandal involving Dorit in Season 9 of the show.
For those who don’t know, puppygate was a long-running plotline in Season 9 of ‘RHOBH’, which involved almost the entire cast of the show and caused quite a bit of drama as feuds erupted, claims were made, and sides were taken. It all started after Dorit adopted a puppy called Lucy Lucy Apple Juice from ex-co-star Lisa Vanderpump’s shelter. But Dorit surrendered the puppy to a shelter after claiming that the puppy bit her daughter, Phoenix, and her husband, PK Kemsley, leading to a string of events that occupied most of Season 9’s storyline. Now that the ‘RHOBH’ star has adopted a new dog, fans are remembering Lucy.

In her Instagram post, she said, “Holidays came a little early in this house 🐾 Welcome to the family, Pumpkin! 🐶🧡 We love you so much!” Dorit shared that she has adopted a new pup named Pumpkin. The video depicts Pumpkin meeting Dorit’s children and her other dog. But the sweet post has grabbed netizens’ attention toward the ‘RHOBH’ housewife’s history with pets. Most recalled how Dorit had rehomed pets in the past, as one person commented on the post, “FYI--- dogs are like a 12-15 year commitment. Hopefully Pumpkin isn’t just a “right now choice” but a life long family member.” Another chimed in, “I think it’s more of this seasons accessory for her,” after one claimed, “Bless her, hopefully pumpkin won’t be used an accessory and thrown out like last years Gucci With an excuse that “he/she didn’t gel with the fam🙄.”

When Dorit gave up Lucy, she cited the reason that the dog was “not the right fit” after the pup bit her family. But before Lucy, Dorit had also rehomed another puppy called Maddy. Both the dogs were from ‘RHOBH’ alum Lisa’s shelter, and Dorit had adopted Lucy after returning Maddy to the shelter. But while rehoming Lucy, she instead put her in a kill shelter which enraged many employees of Lisa Vanderpump’s shelter while a feud erupted between the two housewives after the information came to light. While many believed that Lisa herself had leaked the information about her castmate's actions regarding the pup, the reality star vehemently denied the claims but ultimately left ‘RHOBH’ over the puppygate drama.
