FORKS, WASHINGTON: Are you Team Edward or Team Jacob? Lionsgate Television recently announced that they are in the process of adapting Stephenie Meyer's 'Twilight' series for a TV version. Reboots are a great way to transport the audience back in time to a place where they feel familiar and at ease. This does not have to imply that the plots and subplots will be the same, but the setting and feel of the original show/movie must be.

Writer Sinead Daly, who is well-known for her work on projects such as 'The Walking Dead: World Beyond', 'Raised by Wolves', and 'Tell Me Lies', is said to be working on the reboot script, and author Stephenie Meyer is also expected to be involved. Despite no specific angles for the series on television having been revealed, it is expected to be an exciting journey.

'It’s time to stop'

Ardent fans of the movies and the books have now spoken up and expressed their views on the announcement and it has not been how the makers might have expected. One of the users wrote that it is time to stop whereas another one mentioned that the announcement “seems like a nice way of saying ‘we don’t have any ideas’, another Twitter user stated, “Who asked for this." A user pointed out that nobody can ever be Edward Cullen better than Robert Pattinson (we agree).

Over the years, fans have already been divided with a section of them liking the books and the movies whereas another section ridicules the idea of the movies because of the bad acting of the actors, which we’d like to point out, improved towards the final movie. A user suggested, “if bella and alice aren’t a thing in the Twilight reboot then I don’t want it”.  Another user stated that “the only way i'd accept a twilight reboot is if its entirely from the pov of jessica, eric, mike and angela, and it's a comedy about how they keep missing the really obvious vampire s**t.”

A user on social media pointed out, “All these reboots are so funny to me because it’s so obviously a cash grab to get people nostalgic enough to want to see it again, it’s not really geared towards the new generation cus the likelihood that a new generation would find twilight that amazing all over again seems low”. A different user mentioned that "I’m desperately hoping that since they’re making it a TV series that’s they’re plan. That they WILL expand on the lore that SM refused too, like IDEALLY the plan is if this is a success we could get SPIN OFFS of all the interesting shit she ignored !!!"

Will fans accept ‘Twilight’ reboot?

The question is whether ardent fans of the books and movies are going to embrace the reboot, but the online community is divided on the subject at the moment. Even though the motion picture received criticism for its lack of action and the way it portrayed its vampire getting parodied, the cast of the movie looked to be on point, and it managed to garner the attention of the audience and continues to be popular among people even after so many years. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, at the very least, and since the announcement of the reboot, people have been expressing their disappointment because they believe that no couple would be able to create the chemistry the original characters had.

But that doesn't mean the industry is going to cease producing reboots of movies or television series they want, but if a 'Twilight' reboot is in the works, fans desire it to go in a different direction and cover the elements of the book that were left out in the film, as well as work on the special effects. The younger generation is very interested in watching various viewpoints of movies or television shows whereas the book was based on Bella Swan, an outcast who falls in love with Edward Cullen who is a vampire and then their story with ups and downs follows.
