The consequences of substance abuse run deep. Director Siobhan Devine uses it as a theme for the upcoming Lifetime movie 'Imperfect High'. The film is a follow-up to Bella Thorne's 'Perfect High'. The OG also starred Israel Broussard, Daniela Bobadilla, and Ross Butler in key roles.

The network has a week to go before it wraps up its 'Summer of Secrets' programming event. Here are some titles you can watch that will keep your weeknights busy until 'Imperfect High' premieres in September - 'Secrets of a Marine's Wife', 'Gone Mom', 'Cradle Did Fall', and 'Secrets of a Gold Digger Killer'.

Plot and cast

'Imperfect High' follows the story of Hanna Brooks (Nia Sioux), the new girl in town, who is battling anxiety issues while trying to fit into the new setting. Will she able to? Only time will tell. The official logline reads: "The new girl in town who is looking to find her place and fit in at Lakewood High School, which was rocked a couple of years earlier by the shocking drug overdose of a popular student. Hanna suffers from an anxiety disorder and the move to a new school is especially stressful for her."

It adds: "While trying to fit in with the 'it' crowd, she finds herself pulled between two boys - a bad boy with a heart of gold, and an alluring, popular rich kid who is not as straight of an arrow as he seems. Her relationship with them sweeps her into a dangerous situation that her mother Deborah (Sherri Shepherd) must fight to save her from."

Sioux and Shepherd have worked with Lifetime previously, which makes 'Imperfect High' all the more special. While Sioux was one of OG cast members of 'Dance Moms', Shepherd was last seen in the comedy series 'Sherri'. The network will share hotline and resource information for SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Servies Administration) once the movie airs. They will also be promoting it across social media platforms.
