‘I’m a B’: Hwasa debuts twice on Billboard Top 10 chart after RBW disregards Mamamoo

Hwasa is the first K-pop female idol to debut two songs simultaneously on Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart in 2021

Days after Mamamoo’s label RBW was slammed for not promoting Hwasa’s solo, she has made records. With the release of her first single album ‘Guilty Pleasure’, Hwasa topped domestic, as well as international charts like Billboard. Previously, fans were angry at her label for doing the bare minimum and then disregarding the girl group’s achievements. And while RBW’s other artists have been doing world tours, Mamamoo is yet to have a world tour despite debuting in 2014 and being a popular K-pop group overseas.

Fans pointed out that although RBW claimed that their company's growth was due to the IP rights, the label was majorly known for being Mamamoo’s company in the K-pop industry. They were also upset that while the CEO disregarded Mamamoo’s contributions to the company, he went on to take photos with the group’s trophies for the interview. They added that while it was good that all artists under RBW were able to go on multiple tours, Mamamoo deserved to at least have their first world tour.

And with Hwasa’s ‘Guilty Pleasure’ almost getting no promotions, fans have decided to make the release successful on their own. For this week, they helped the album continue to chart on several big charts and also debut on Billboard. On November 30, Billboard announced that Hwasa’s title track ‘I’m a B’ had debuted at #7 on their World Digital Song Sales Chart. At the same time, the b-side ‘Bless U’ had also debuted and was at #10 on the chart. This makes Hwasa the first K-pop female idol to debut two songs simultaneously on the Billboard chart in 2021. Additionally, along with her past releases -- ‘Twit’ at #3 and ‘Maria’ at #6, she now has a total of four songs in the top 10.

'She won't fall'

Excited fans trended Hwasa as they celebrated the achievements. One Moomoo tweeted, “A LEGEND.” Another added, “Thanks int. moomoos for not letting this comeback going unnoticed. Even though RBW f*cks up their int. promotions you’re always here ready to support mamamoo. THANKS YOU SO MUCH.” One fan posted, “#Ima빛 and Bless U did that! Im so proud of our queen!” An angry Moomoo said, “This is straight up slap to rbw for not giving Hwasa the right promo. To think the girls have to problem with their Marketing? That's insane, yet she managed to get to the top on billboard. Might just let go of the girls. Your treatment to them shouts BITTERNESS.” Another commented, “QUEEN HWASA SOING ALL OF THIS WHEN HER OWN ARE TRYING TO STOP HER SHINING! SHE WONT FALLLLLL!!”

At the same time, fans were also angry at RBW for insulting Mamamoo as one said, “I’m speechless.” Another said, “Mamamoo didnt work hard for YEARS, doing 3-4 events PER DAY (until c0vid happened), not to mention all the shows they attended (IS2, queendom, etc), only for KJW (RBW CEO) to say "nah they didnt do shit for the company's growth, it's the 𝓘𝓟 𝓡𝓲𝓰𝓱𝓽𝓼" I'm so mad.” One fan shared, “I want all of the rbw groups to go on a world tour 100% but if any rbw artist deserves to go on a world tour FIRST (not the only deserving group), it should be mamamoo. we've said this multiple times but they literally built the company and they haven't gone on ANY tour at all.” Another Moomoo pointed out, “No one would even know RBW exists if it wasnt for Mamamoo Heck even most people dont know RBW but when people said "its Mamamoo's company" they'll immediately know In short mamamoo > rbw.”
