Iconic 'Starsky & Hutch' show from '70s to get 21st century upgrade in modern-day remake
CULVER CITY, CALIFORNIA: Fox is working on a remake of the 1970s buddy cop show 'Starsky & Hutch'. But, unlike the original series, which had only two men as the main leads, the modern “reimagining” of the drama series will star two female detectives.
Sasha Starsky and Nicole Hutchinson, the two female detectives feature in the series and solve crimes in the offbeat town of Desert City, Deadline reported. They do it while staying true to their friendship, their awesomeness, and somehow also trying to unravel the mystery behind who sent their fathers to prison 15 years ago for a crime they didn’t commit.

'Get some original ideas'
"Who are they going to get to play Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller?" one Twitter user asked, seemingly unaware that 'Starsky and Hutch' was a TV series before it was a movie. Another said, "Female Starsky and Hutch." But some were also quite critical. "Does anyone have an original idea in Hollywood anymore? (says the woman who wouldn't mind a From Dusk Till Dawn remake)," read one tweet. Another wrote, "Because the 1st time you did that it went so well. Dear Hollywood get some original ideas." Another user asked, "Will they be calling it "Cagney & Lacey", or will this be the Self-Indulgent Badass Power-Fantasy version, like Ocean's 8?"

A few users were curious with one hopeful viewer tweeting, "I hope this one is not a comedy." Another said, "Why not make a sequel to the perfect Starsky & Hutch remake?". More users asked if they could reboot Cagney and Lacey instead, with one tweet saying, "Why not Cagney and Lacey that would actually make sense."
I hope this one is not a comedy.
