SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: Lee Youngji’s YouTube series ‘My Alcohol Diary’ is the next best variety show that all fans want their idols to appear on. We got some iconic moments from Hoshi drunk crying and professing his love for his company to Youngji gifting Itzy’s Chaeryeong a bottle of salt. And while most of these K-pop idols appeared on the show to promote a comeback or a new project, it was her next guest that surprised everyone. Monsta X’s Hyungwon came on Lee Youngji’s show and ended up going viral in South Korea and on K-pop Twitter simply for being himself.

The Monsta X star was surprised that he was invited to the show even though he was on a break. We then had Youngji revealing that since everyone claimed he had a high alcohol tolerance level she wanted to test it. Well, the first half of the episode was Youngji getting surprised by Hyungwon’s looks and acting shy by hiding or falling to the ground. The second half was her getting wasted while Hyungwon drank soju and beer like water. The Monsta X member also ended up becoming the first guest to stay sober and end the show alone as Youngji hilariously left her own house where the show is filmed.

Monsta X’s Hyungwon goes viral for his looks

Monsta X fans loved the interaction between the introverted Hyungwon and the extroverted Youngji as many got to see a new side to him. We got some nuggets of wisdom from him advocating non-violence to hoping Youngji finds love with someone caring. Hyungwon also ended up playing a whole new song and at one point tried to open a locked door with chopsticks. They also called Seventeen’s Hoshi with him and Youngji praising Hyungwon.

Well, with everyone on the show complimenting Hyungwon’s looks, the episode ended up going viral on Korean chat forums as Knetizens claimed that they too would act like Youngji if they ever met someone as handsome as the Monsta X star. Knetz made comments like, “I know what this feels like...ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ It's so overwhelming that you'd actually take some steps backward…,” “I somehow feel shy watching Hyungwon, even through a screen, because he's too handsome. I just can't look straight at the screen,” and “Whoa... He looks so f**king handsome. He just... Shines…” The episode also crossed 2.2 million views in less than 23 hours while short clips on Twitter amassed 1 million views.

‘She’s so relatable’

A Monbebe made a reaction meme, “My mood with Hyungwon.” Another fan loved the banter between the two, “Hyungwon kept asking youngji if she's okay and she deadass asked hyungwon to stop checking on her.” One was touched, “Chae hyungwon my anti violence advocate i hope the world will be kinder to kind people like you.” Another Monbebe was surprised, “CHAE HYUNGWON YOUR ARMS#+(#??” One fan could relate with Youngji, “WHY SHE'S SO RELATABLE.” Hyungwon getting frustrated with his own high tolerance level had a fan saying, “Hyungwon is such a mood.”

A Monbebe shared, “Hyungwon played an unreleased song from one of his works GOSH I WANNA HEAR IT FULL AND OFFICIALLY.” One fan said, “Hyungwon making history by being youngji's only guest (so far) to end the show in a sober state, doesn't want to go home at all, and making youngji herself go home instead AKDHSJHS THIS EPISODE IS SO FUNNY.” Another Monbebe added, “I'm laughing so hard bcs it's literally her real house.” One fan asked, “How's he so fine after drinking?” Another wrote, “This sums up Monbebe & Monsta X.”
