'5 new dragons in Season 2'
HBO’s FYC event at the DGA was mostly an opportunity for the cast to reflect on their characters while the team, along with the writers, could talk to the show's fans. At the event, Condal shared that the second season of 'House of the Dragon' will go into production "shortly". The new season, according to Condal, will see the introduction of 5 new dragons. HBO Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys earlier confirmed the start of production for Season 2. “My philosophy is a good script is number one priority,” he told Variety. “I am not doing it based on wanting to have one a year, two a year. I want to do it based on the scripts that we’re excited about.”
'Fire & Blood' only served as an outline
George RR Martin revealed that his novel only provided the outline for the hugely popular series. “It was an imaginary history book,” he said. “In Fire and Blood, it stated that Queen Emma Arryn dies in childbirth and the son dies [within the hour]. There is nothing about it being the most horrendous childbirth scene ever seen on TV. That’s all the work of [Condal] and his writers.”
Martin also went on to express his regret about not being able to spend time during the first season. “Sadly I wasn’t there for any of this fun,” Martin told the crowd. “I was in Santa Fe working on [his next] novel.”
