Gender fluidity, non-binary characters, and hardly any sex and nudity: GoT fans brace for woke 'House of the Dragon'
What made 'Game of Thrones' one of the more smash hits on Television was the graphic violence, the lust of the blood and flesh, and copious doses of drama and action. It all began from Episode 1 and went the same way up to the end of its decade-spanning eight-season run on HBO. However, the latest prequel, 'House of the Dragon' has reportedly gone woke, per Hollywood insiders.
Talking to The Daily Mail, one of the Hollywood executives shed light on the new approach: "The original show was made before the MeToo era. Graphic sex and nudity had never been seen on television like that before. But this new series had to take on board that we live in different times. The sex is handled very differently and there is far less of it. There is way more diversity. 'Game Of Thrones' had only a couple of black characters, and one of those was killed off in chains". The prequel series is based on George RR Martin's book, 'Fire & Blood' and tells the story of the House of Targaryen.

Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts. "I can't wrap my head around what the hell the producers of House of the Dragon were thinking. "We don't want to be risqué so we're cutting the consensual sex scenes, but leaving in all the sexual assault because of historical accuracy." Do they think consensual sex didn't exist?" a tweet read. "Well, maybe I'll watch House of the Dragon. It has dragons and swords." [We're cutting back the consensual sex and really emphasizing the sexual assault, because of medieval times, am I right?] "I can wait for Rings of Power and the next season of Wheel of Time, I guess."
"'House of the Dragon' will have less sex than 'Game of Thrones,' according to the showrunners... So you're telling me this show isn't even worth watching?" one of the fans opined. "sounds like good bad tv to mock," another tweet read. "This is so stupid. Nudity happens, sex happens, violence happens, and not showing it doesn’t make it not exist. Whatever happened to if you don’t like something don’t watch it?" a fan remarked. "Ridiculous. Already we know just by this, it probably won’t live up to GOT (before the final season) lol," a comment read.

Game of Woke: Non-binary stars, gender-fluid characters and barely any sex and nudity... So what on earth will Game Of Thrones fans make of House Of The Dragon - the prequel to TV’s most risqué blockbuster?https://t.co/00LXVZB8Et
Earlier, Emilia Clarke, who played Daenerys Targaryen, shared that she was uncomfortable with the nudity and felt unprotected, as, at the point, HBO didn't mandate intimacy coordinators be hired until 2018. "I'd been on a film set twice before then, and I'm now on a film set completely naked with all of these people," she told the Armchair Expert podcast in 2019. "I don't know what I'm meant to do, and I don't know what's expected of me, and I don't know what you want, and I don't know what I want."
'House of the Dragon' premieres August 22 on HBO.
