‘House of the Dragon’: Fans go into FRENZY after George RR Martin calls his books and characters ‘kids’
San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) is back. Several much-awaited trailers and sneak peeks are being released and new movies and shows are being announced, sending fans into a frenzy. Fans are glued to their devices to keep up with this speedy event. Thousands of fans have headed to California for the 4-day event.
As the cast and crew of 'House of the Dragon', the prequel to 'Game of Thrones', made their SDCC debut, author and creator George RR Martin referred to the book and its characters as his "kids" on Twitter, following which fans have been sharing their two cents online.

George RR Martin was at the event with showrunner Ryan Condal, along with cast Matt Smith, Paddy Considine, and Eve Best to drop all the hints about the 'GoT' spinoff.
A crew member of the 'Total Film' magazine seated at the event tweeted his opinion after watching an extended trailer, "Seated in Hall H for the #HouseoftheDragon panel — just seen an extended trailer featuring lots of Targaryens and dragons. Real early season Game of Thrones feel to the footage. And Matt Smith in armour. The panel are here, including George R R Martin!"

However, fans were quick to tweet their dismay about Martin's "fatherhood" as his characters are often killed and undergo horrific ordeals in the books. The extended footage did not look too promising to some and fans took to Twitter to respond to the tweet as one said, "Thank god he doesn’t have kids." Another one added, "Dead beat father!!!"

The rant did not stop there. Fans went crazy over the tweet as one wrote, "Martin never had kids, so it does track that he’d think is how you treat kids." "But you abounded your kids, you went to get them milk and never came back," another fan added.
"GRRM has a short story called Portraits of his Children based on this premise. It's quite dark, but fascinating, and a bit self-deprecating as well. I would recommend if you've never read it," said a fan.
