What happens when two powerhouses clash against each other? Carnage and that’s what is going to happen when ‘House of the Dragon’ arrives on HBO, next month. There has been a lot of excitement regarding the show that tells the story of the civil war that took place when House Targaryen was ruling Westeros. HBO unveiled a new trailer for the show at this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego and gave a glimpse of the destruction that will arrive when Targaryens meet each other on the battlefield.

However, an extended trailer has made fans a lot more excited about the show and features more glimpses of what we can expect from some of the important characters. Although the new clip is somewhat identical to the ‘House of the Dragon’ trailer released last week, it had a few notable changes. Some key moments from the previous trailer have been extended and even saw King Viserys warning someone by saying that the Iron Throne is “the most dangerous seat in the realm”.

Meanwhile, in one of the scenes King Viserys I can be seen saying that he has decided to name a new heir, to which, Daemon replies, “I’m your HEIR”. On the other hand, Rhaenyra Targaryen seems to believe that “Targaryens are closer to gods than to men”. The trailer shows House Targaryen in its full might and many different characters are fighting to claim the iconic throne. The clip seems to have made quite an impression on viewers as they feel that this series is going to be fiery.

One of the fans noted, “Fire will reign”. Another fan wrote, “Can’t wait to see the dynamic among Targaryens! There wasn’t much of that in GoT besides a few scenes in Season 1. Feels good to be engulfed in this universe again.” Another social media user tweeted, “Woohoo! I’m so excited. Fire and Blood.”

However, some fans felt that the “extended trailer” should have had new scenes because they waited a whole day for this footage.

“Well, I feel cheated. I waited all day for this, hoping to see something really new and powerful. But there is nothing really shocking. I hope you release a REALLY extended version soon,” another social media user said. “Y’all had us wait a day for 2 more seconds,” another Twitter user wrote.

This is the first time we’ll be getting a detailed look at House Targaryen. In ‘Game of Thrones’, only two people from the aforementioned house were introduced in Season 1, but it didn’t follow much about their history. As of now, trailers and every photo that has been released by HBO give us an indication how powerful this house once was. The show will also feature a wide range of dragons and it will be interesting to see which side they choose to be with.

Recently, Ryan Condal, one of the showrunners, revealed that the prequel series will feature a total of 17 dragons and they will play a pivotal role in the series moving forward.
The series sees Emma D’Arcy playing the role of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in the show while Matt Smith portrays Prince Daemon Targaryen. Other actors to feature in the show include Paddy Considine (King Viserys I Targaryen), Olivia Cooke (Lady Alicent Hightower), Steve Toussaint (Lord Corlys Velaryon), Eve Best (Princess Rhaenys Velaryon), and Sonoya Mizuno (Mysaria).

The series is scheduled to premiere on August 21, 2022, on HBO, and its first season will consist of ten episodes.
