The episode opens with the Lannisters refusing to attack Harrenhal unless Aemond and Vhagar join their campaign.
Aemond decides to send Criston Cole (Fabian Frankel) to Harrenhal with the Lannisters, planning to join them at the right moment.
Aemond also decides to remove Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) from her seat in the Green Council.
Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) considers Ser Steffon Darklyn (Anthony Flanagan) as a potential dragon rider due to his lineage, which has ties to the Targaryens
Seasmoke refuses to accept Steffon as a dragon rider, burns him alive, and then flees Dragonstone
Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) has another vision in which he sees Viserys I Targaryen (Paddy Considine) sitting on the Iron Throne and condemning him.
He attempts to leave Harrenhal but encounters Alys Rivers (Gayle Rankin), who tells him that the crown is not meant for him. She also predicts a change in his fortunes within three days
Later, he receives the news of Lord Grover Tully's death as Oscar Tully (Archie Barnes) takes over as the Lord of the Riverlands. Alys Rivers seems to have had a hand in the death.
Aemond asks Lord Larys Strong (Matthew Needham) to send word to Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans). He plans to ally with the Triarchy to break the Blockade of Gullet.
Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) recovers slightly from his injuries and Aemond confronts him, torturing him to ensure he doesn’t disclose what happened at Rook’s Rest.
Larys Strong advises Aegon that his injury could be an advantage, as it may lead others to underestimate him. He emphasizes that Aegon's greatest asset now is his mind.
The Maesters administer potions to Aegon that keep him asleep for most of the day and alleviate his pain. However, Larys advises him to avoid them, as they will dull his mind.
Rhaenyra sends food to the smallfolk in King's Landing. Alicent and Helaena Targaryen (Phia Saban) face the anger of the people, who are upset about the food shortage and praise Rhaenyra for her generosity.
Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) asks Alyn of Hull (Abubaker Salim) to join him as his first mate on a voyage.
Alyn shaves off his Velaryon hair to conceal his identity, much to the dismay of his brother Addam of Hull (Clinton Liberty), who urges him to make the most of the situation.
Meanwhile, Rhaena Targaryen (Phoebe Campbell) discovers evidence of a large dragon in the Vale.
On Dragonstone, Rhaenyra doubts her capabilities as queen but is reassured by Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno), who vows to stand by her side forever. The two women share a vulnerable moment and kiss just as they receive news of Seasmoke being found.
Seasmoke had flown away and followed Addam of Hull who might be his new rider.
What to expect from the 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 Episode 7?
According to 'Fire and Blood' by George R.R. Martin, Addam of Hull becomes a key ally for the Blacks as he rides the dragon Seasmoke.
In the book, Addam is speculated to be the illegitimate son of Laenor Velaryon (John Macmillan), but this is considered unlikely given that Laenor is known to be homosexual.
There are rumors that Addam is the son of Corlys Velaryon, which would make him a suitable candidate to be a dragon rider.
Seasmoke may recognize Laenor in Addam, as the dragon was formerly Laenor's. Later in the story, Rhaenyra legitimizes both Addam and Alyn as Velaryons.
Alys proves to be an unexpected ally for Daemon. With Grover Tully's death, Daemon now has an opportunity to persuade Oscar Tully and secure control of the Riverlands through him.
In the book, Daemon raises an army and marches on King's Landing. However, Alys later becomes an ally and lover to Aemond in the show.
The dynamic between Rhaenyra and Mysaria adds an intriguing layer to the show, as Mysaria becomes Rhaenyra’s only long-term ally later on.
As for the dragon riders of Vermithor and Silverwing, Hugh the Hammer (Kieran Bew) and Ulf (Tom Benett) are shown in Episode 6 expressing their frustration with the Green rulers.
They will eventually become the dragon riders of Vermithor and Silverwing in the upcoming episodes.
