LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 will stream on HBO from June 16, 2024, and the series is based on the House Targaryen about two centuries before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) in 'Game of Thrones'.

The central characters of this story are Queen Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) and Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) who fight for the coveted Iron Throne. Apart from the central characters, the show has many different characters who keep making appearances and play an important role in the development of its plot.

One such character is Lord Larys Strong (Matthew Needham) of House Strong. One of his feet was twisted at birth so he walks with a limp giving him the nickname 'Clubfoot'. He is known for his political skill and cunning intellect as he serves on the small council of King Viserys (Paddy Considine) and King Aegon Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney).

In 'House of the Dragon' Season 1, we saw him closely aligning himself with Alicent Hightower. We explore this relationship and what Lord Larys Strong's intentions could be behind this alliance.

Lord Larys was brought to King's Landing alongside his older brother Harwin Strong (Ryan Corr) and father Lord Lyonel Strong (Gavin Spokes). He served as one of the confessors to King Viserys.

Later in the season, we see his older brother get involved romantically with Rhaenyra Targaryen resulting in him fathering her three children out of wedlock. Tragedy strikes when a fire claims the lives of his father and brother at Harrenhal, an event subtly suggested to be orchestrated by Larys himself. Following this, he ascends as the Lord of Harrenhal.

He has closely aligned himself with the green faction, that is Alicent Hightower's team, and seems to have a close personal relationship with Alicent too.

Lord Larys Strong offers to be an ally to Alicent Hightower when she is young and doesn't have too many people to advise her. She begins to rely on his advice and they form a close working relationship as the season progresses with Lord Larys Strong becoming the master of whisperers.

Lord Larys is shown as a character who was never expected to achieve much with his physical disability and the fact that he was a second son. He finds his way to survive in the world and aligning himself with the queen gives him a good chance to not only survive but be significant. In the upcoming war between Alicent and Rhaenyra's factions, Larys is expected to play an important role with his sharp intellect and cunning ability to stay ahead of the opponent.

There is a hint of a sexual attraction too in the first season as Alicent shows him more of her feet than usual in Episode 9. The scene could be interpreted in multiple ways because a man with a twisted foot could have an obsession with Alicent's feet for more than just sexual reasons.
