As the Greens return from battle, they parade the body of the dead dragon Meleys on the streets of King's Landing. The dragon is auspicious and this is considered a bad omen by the small folk at King's Landing. Grand Maester Orwyle (Kurt Egyiawan) treats King Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) who may or may not live.

Meanwhile, Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) finds it challenging to handle her council after the death of Rhaenys. Jacerys Velaryon (Harry Collett) flies out to meet the Freys and makes them an ally promising them Harrenhall if the Blacks win.

To decide the successor to Aegon, the Greens council meets. Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) wants to rule in Aegon's absence but the council including her closest allies in Criston Cole (Fabian Frankel) and Larys Strong (Matthew Needham) decide that Aemond will take over as the Prince Regent.

Among Aemond's first orders is to close the gates of King's Landing. That leaves Hugh the Hammer ( Kieran Bew) and other small folk who are struggling with resources trapped in a city with no food. Mysaria (Sonoya Mizuno) sneaks into King's Landing yet again and plans to create more unrest in the city to aid the blacks.

At Harrenhall, Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) finds it hard to manage his mental demons and keep the houses together as Alys Rivers (Gayle Rankin) plays tricks with his mind. He has a vision of his mother, who he seems to be romantically involved, telling him that he is the rightful heir to the throne.

Baela Targaryen (Bethany Antonia) convinces Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) to be the Hand of the Queen, and Jacerys tells her to use the unused dragons Silverwing and Vermithor in battle.

As suggested by Jacerys, Rhaenyra will seek the Targaryen lineage and look for people with dragon blood as potential riders for Silverwing and Vermithor. This will be a turning point in the war for the Blacks.

As per 'Fire and Blood', the dragon riders will be Hugh the Hammer, Ulf White (Tom Bennet), Addam of Hull (Clinton Liberty), and Nettles. Three of these characters have been established already in the opening episodes. The next episode is in all likelihood going to be about these Dragonseeds who become an important part of the Blacks.

As for the Greens, their obsession with the Riverlands continues as Aemond and Criston Cole look to capture the most important strategic location for the war. At Harrenhall though, Daemon Targaryen awaits them and we will probably see him and Rhaenyra make amends after their conflict has forced Daemon away.

Episodes 1-5 of 'House of the Dragon' are streaming on HBO.
