LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 Episode 5 aired on HBO on July 14, 2024. The gripping episode ended on an enticing note as Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) explored the possibility of finding Dragonseeds who could ride her unclaimed dragons.

The suggestion came from Jacerys Velaryon (Harry Collett) and if 'Fire and Blood' is to be believed, this will be a game-changer in the show. The Blacks are currently reeling from the loss of Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best). Not only was Rhaenys an important strategist in the Black Council, but she also had a large dragon.

With Rook's Rest now falling to the Greens, the Blacks have been cut off from the King's Landing and now the war is up to the dragons. No dragon in the Blacks's arsenal can match the might of Vhagar but there are two unclaimed dragons who are fully grown and can give Vhagar a fight. Those are Vermithor and Silverwing. Here's a bit about both the dragons.

Vermithor is a male dragon who is called the Bronze Fury for his color. His size is only smaller than Vhagar and Baelon. Vermithor is a significant dragon as he was ridden by King Jaehaerys I Targaryen.

He remained unclaimed during the reign of King Viserys I Targaryen (Paddy Considine) and made his home in Dragonstone. His frightening size would scare everyone who would try to take the dragon. Vermithor made a brief appearance in Season 1.

Silverwing is a she-dragon who was ridden by Jaehaerys's wife Queen Alysanne Targaryen. She is given that name because of her appearance and is yet to appear in the show. She was mentioned though when Cregan Stark (Tom Taylor) talked about the time Silverwing refused to cross the wall and it left the queen perturbed. Silverwing has also been riderless since the death of Alysanne.

Who will claim Silverwing and Vermithor in 'House of the Dragon'?

Dragonseeds are people who have the blood of the Targaryen's running through their veins. They are illegitimate children who have fallen apart from the royal family.

There are two such characters who have been introduced so far in the show who will end up being the dragon riders. Vermithor will be claimed by Hugh the Hammer (Kieran Bew) who is currently struggling to manage his finances and his daughter's declining health after being promised help by King Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney). He will deflect to the Blacks's side and be a dragon rider.

Ulf is the character who will ride Silverwing. We saw Ulf make a brief appearance in the show when he claimed to be the half-brother of Viserys in Episode 3. Together Ulf and Hugh will ride the two dragons to King's Landing and give the Throne to Rhaenyra Targaryen.

However, later on, after Vhagar dies in the Battle at the Gods Eye, Hugh harbors the desire to be the King because he has the largest dragon in the world. Ulf and Hugh betray Rhaenyra and get eventually called the 'Two Betrayers'.
