'House of the Dragon' Episode 2: How soon will it be before the prequel shows a time jump?
'House of the Dragon' Episode 2 is less than 24 hours away, and the focus is all on 'The Rogue Prince'. The HBO prequel began on a strong note and introduced the Targaryens and their sorry state of affairs despite being in power. Episode 2 is all set to focus on Daemon (Matt Smith).
Titled 'The Heirs of the Dragon', the first chapter focuses on the death of Aemma Arryn (Sian Brooke), the consort and the first wife of King Viserys Targaryen. The death of the first queen and her newborn coupled with Prince Daemon Targaryen's erratic and violent style of leadership leaves Viserys no choice but to choose Princess Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock) as the successor to his throne. The second episode, 'The Rogue Prince' will show more of Daemon and how he comes to terms with the decision.

Ahead of 'House of the Dragon' Episode 2 woke viewers still can't get over Aemma death scene
From all the sneak peeks, the trailers, and the promotional paraphernalia, it's evident that the series will experience a time jump. One of the episodes will surely see Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke play Princess Rhaenyra and Alicent Hightower respectively, but the rest of the cast details during the flash forward is unknown. In all probability, the time jump might happen after Episode 4 or 5, as the HBO show is still focused on world-building. Perhaps there's more of Viserys' misery and the iron hand approach of Daemon Targaryen that we're yet to see.
It's interesting to see how the relationship dynamics change between Daemon and Rhaenyra. There's also enough of the new Viserys-Alicent relationship — one that starts the break of her friendship with Rhaenyra. Only time will tell how the time jump which, for all we know, may happen only in the next season - if not in the later part of the series - will explain their bitter drift.
'House of the Dragon' Episode 1 is streaming on HBO Max. The series airs Sundays at 9 pm ET on HBO.
