'House Hunters: Comedians on Couches': Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about HGTV show
If you've seen HGTV's 'House Hunters', you'd know why the show is such a rage on social media. For the uninitiated, the show sees potential homebuyers meet with real estate agents and list out what facilities they need in their new house. Demands vary from soft close cabinets to a huge backyard to quartz countertops, all this while their salaries might not be a match for their big-budget home dreams. The buyers are given the option of three houses and they have to pick one amongst them, it's as simple as that.
What makes the show enjoyable is that the real estate agents keep reminding the buyers and taking the mickey out of their dreams for sushi at a Michelin star restaurant when their budget says crawfish at the flea market. For years, viewers have been making fun of the show and now HGTV has decided to cash in on all of those comments with their new spin on the series, 'House Hunters: Comedians on Couches'. Continue reading to know more.
Release date
'House Hunters: Comedians on Couches' premieres on Tuesday, June 2, through Friday, June 5, at 10 pm and 10.30 pm ET/PT on HGTV.
Plot
The show will see comedian Dan Levy and Natasha Leggero reach out to their friends via a video conference for a watch party of 'House Hunters'. 'The House Hunters: Comedians on Couches' celebrity lineup led by Levy and Leggero will feature their comedian friends Whitney Cummings, Eliot Glazer, John Mulaney, Chris Redd and JB Smoove. The celebrities are about to call all of their choices out in a hilarious no holds barred style commentary, all this comedic fun for a good cause.
While the show airs, HGTV fans will be encouraged to join the fight against childhood hunger and provide meals to kids in need during Covid-19 and beyond by texting a donation to Turn Up: Fight Hunger, a partnership between Discovery Inc, the global leader in real-life entertainment, and No Kid Hungry, a charity outfit. Creators
'House Hunters' was created by the real-life couple Tara Sandler and Jennifer Davidson. In an interview with Cosmopolitan, they explained how the idea of House Hunters came to fruition. They’d already started their own production company called Pie Town Productions and began producing some shows, but the idea for this show only struck them when they were out house hunting. “One day we went to this house and it was a mid-century modern, which we love, and was this very small house with a very big pool… We were like, ‘it’s not perfect, but it could be if we did this and that to it.’ We both looked at each other and said, ‘Wow, this is really stressful. This could be a really good idea for a show.’ So we decided, let’s go back to the office, and we’ll put in an offer in on the house, and we’ll write up a pitch and send it off. That’s how we created House Hunters,” said Sandler.
