How to live stream
Those who cannot wait and are eager to catch up on the series may watch it here. Stick around for more updates.
Plot
It'll pick up where it left, except there's a brand new competition this time. While the students are shown to be pumped about repeating their applaud-worthy performance, West High announces they will work on 'The Little Mermaid'. This puts East High's Miss Jenn on the spot, who then ditches the plan of presenting 'High School Musical 2'. She suggests 'Beauty and the Beast'. Will East High succeed? Only time will tell. Season 2 will have 12 episodes, instead of 10.
Cast
The show will return with Olivia Rodrigo ('Nini'), Joshua Bassett ('Ricky'), Sofia Wylie ('Gina'), Matt Cornett ('EJ'), Larry Saperstein ('Big Red'), Julia Lester ('Ashlyn'), Dara Reneé ('Kourtney'), Frankie Rodriguez ('Carlos'), Joe Serafini ('Seb'), Mark St. Cyr ('Mr. Mazzara') and Kate Reinders ('Miss Jenn').
Showrunners
Tim Federle is a famed novelist, theater librettist, and screenwriter. He is best known for his novel, Better Nate Than Ever. Tim was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award and Academy Award under the category Best Animated Feature for the film, 'Ferdinand'. He served as the writer and executive producer of 'High School Musical: The Musical: The Series' Season 1.
Meanwhile, Disney Branded Television's president and the chief creative officer said: "For everyone who was there at the birth of ‘High School Musical’ on Disney Channel 15 years ago, this is like a homecoming! And whether you’ll be experiencing the new series for the very first time or just want to relive the drama and magic of season one ahead of the season two premiere, viewers will get to see it on the platform where it all began … bet on it!"
Trailer
The clip released in early April and has already clocked in almost a million views and over 32K likes. The comments thread is unbelievably lengthy, which makes it clear how much the fans of the show want 'HSMTMTS' to return.
"This season looks packed full of Sofia Wylie-led dance numbers and I am so. ready," one user wrote, while a second expressed: "Honestly HSMTMTS is my escape from what's going on in this world. In some way, it gives me hope for something." "I really hope the seasons go on forever like boy meets world. this show is literally like the best thing ever I’m not even joking they are all so good at acting and they have this bond that is unbreakable," another posted.
