LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Selling Sunset', a popular Netflix series, offers viewers an intimate look into the highly competitive Los Angeles, California, real estate market, where The Oppenheim Group holds sway.

Through their work, Brett Oppenheim and Jason Oppenheim have upheld their family legacy in the real estate business. However, in 2020, Brett decided to leave the firm to embark on a new chapter in his life.

The Oppenheims' connection to real estate runs deep in their family history. After relocating to Hollywood in 1889, their great-great-grandfather Jacob Stern established The Stern Realty Co, which helped him rise to prominence as one of the leading real estate developers in early Los Angeles. Since then, real estate has remained a family business for the Oppenheims.

Five generations of real estate development, management, and brokerage services are represented in Los Angeles today by The Oppenheim Group. The Oppenheim Group has sold residences to some of the greatest stars in the entertainment industry and operates in some of the most affluent districts in the city.

Giancarlo Stanton, Kris Humphries, Nicole Scherzinger, Orlando Bloom, Ellen DeGeneres, Meryl Streep, and several others were among their former clientele.

Why did 'Selling Sunset's Brett Oppenheim leave The Oppenheim Group?

The Oppenheim Group, led by twin brothers Jason and Brett, is the top luxury real estate brokerage company in the Los Angeles region. The 2019 debut of 'Selling Sunset' showcases the job that the twins and their agents do.

However, former Oppenheim agent Christine Quinn clarified in a 2020 interview with Glamour UK that Brett had left The Oppenheim Group to pursue his business venture. "Brett has left to start his own brokerage," Christine said. "The girls are fed up with the favoritism of Mary [Fitzgerald] in the office."

Christine also hinted in the same interview that the fourth season of 'Selling Sunset' would reveal all, including Brett's potential plan to recruit agents from The Oppenheim Group for his own company. She was honest when she remarked, "We don’t know who will move where. It may be the battle of the brokerages!"

Brett is identified as the company's president and broker on the website of the corporation. On the other hand, The Oppenheim Group's founder and president is identified as Jason, his twin brother.

In 'Selling Sunset' season 7, Brett made a return, appearing in a few episodes. In the show, he displayed resentment towards his brother for his extravagant spending, particularly in light of the new mansion tax and high mortgage rates that were negatively impacting their company.

In September 2023, 'Selling the OC' Season 2 debuted, and he made many cameos throughout.

Did 'Selling Sunset' stars Brett Oppenheim and Jason Oppenheim fall out?

Despite whispers of conflict between the brothers, Jason has clarified that he and Brett are not at odds. He emphasized that they continue to collaborate, indicating a genuine connection between their two businesses.

According to explanations on the websites of Oppenheim Real Estate and The Oppenheim Group, Jacob Stern, the great-great-grandfather of Jason and Brett, founded The Stern Realty Co. in 1889. Eventually, The Oppenheim Group took its place. Since they both refer to their firms as family enterprises, they technically still collaborate.

Regarding Christine's remarks about Brett quitting, Jason stated, "I think Christine tried to fan those flames. He's not starting his brokerage, hiring agents, or competing. We're still working together."

This would therefore account for Brett's continued appearance on 'Selling Sunset' and the twins' continued closeness!

What is 'Selling Sunset' star Brett Oppenheim's net worth?

According to SportsKeeda's estimation, he is worth fifty million dollars. The real estate broker pursued his law degree at both UCLA and UC Berkeley.

According to the official Oppenheim website, he is among the top-producing agents in Los Angeles and has handled some of the most stunning and recognizable homes in the region. He has arranged several sales that shattered records and has been acknowledged for his skill on a worldwide scale.

His career has also greatly benefited from his involvement in a popular Netflix series like 'Selling Sunset', which has propelled him to widespread recognition for both his name and face.
