Spoliers for 'Griselda' on Netflix
MIAMI, FLORIDA: Set against the backdrop of the colorful 1970s, when nomad culture was on the rise, 'Griselda' follows Colombian woman Griselda Blanco, who was one of the prominent drug suppliers to the American hippies.
Directed by Andrws Baiz, the second episode of the biographical crime drama series effectively outlines Griselda Blanco's (Sofía Vergara) goal to expand her business and establishes that she will stop at nothing to achieve it.
Griselda Blanco refuses buyout offer from Ochoas
The third episode begins with an introduction to Griselda's opulent lifestyle and her new-found success.
Griselda is faced with a dilemma regarding her next move after receiving a buyout offer from the rival Colombian druglords, the Ochoa brothers.
She pays a visit to the brother duo to discuss the deal and is slightly intimidated by their large operations. German Panesso (Diego Trujillo) suggests she take whatever amount Ochoas offers, as they are no match for the brothers.
Set against the backdrop of a sunny beach, Ochoas offers her a huge sum of $15 million, which she flatly refuses, leaving the brothers furious.
Griselda Blanco tries to unify drug peddlers against the Ochoas
Griselda confides in Panesso that the money offered to them was not worthy enough of their business. She delivers a passionate speech advocating unity among the local Miami drug dealers and disputing the Ochoas' proposed buyout offer.
At first, the dealers were all charged up. However, everyone loses interest when she suggests her name as the head of the union. Everyone completely backs out when they learn that Amilcar (Jose Zuniga), who is being investigated for murder, is thinking of taking up the buyout opportunity.
Refusing to back down, Griselda approaches Amilcar with a daring proposition—to eliminate his murder witness, giving him the leverage to reject the buyout.
In a strategic move, she seeks help from Dario Sepúlveda (Alberto Guerra) to carry out the task, aiming to secure Amilcar's support for the unification.
Following the successful elimination of the witness, Blanco and Amilcar decide on a collaboration behind the scenes. However, in public, Amilcar takes the lead in the union.
'Griselda' is now streaming on Netflix.
