Spoilers for 'Griselda' on Netflix
MIAMI, FLORIDA: Netflix's six-part series 'Griselda' delves deeper into the rise of Colombian woman Griselda Blanco. Headlined by the crew responsible for the widely celebrated 'Narcos', the series officially made its Netflix debut on January 25.
The opening episode establishes Griselda Blanco's motivation for starting her drug empire.
Amilcar backs out of the deal with Griselda Blanco
Griselda Blanco (Sofía Vergara), accompanied by Arturo Mesa (Christian Tappan), visits Amilcar (Jose Zuniga) to sell him the decided amount of cocaine.
To Griselda's shock, Amilcar withdraws from the deal, claiming that he has resolved his differences with his former supplier, Papo Mejia (Maximiliano Hernandez).
Rather, he offers to pay her $5000 for each key, which is significantly less than the agreed-upon amount. Perplexed, Griselda declines to comply. Amilcar threatens her to not let any other Miami dealers buy from her.
As the situation becomes more heated, Arturo leads Griselda out of the meeting place.
Griselda Blanco joins hands with German Panesso
With a suitcase full of cocaine and no buyer to trade with, Griselda knows she's in big trouble.
She suddenly feels a glimmer of hope when the idea of selling the drug directly to wealthy White people strikes her. Since she was aware that the market was unexplored, she turned to German Panesso (Diego Trujillo) for assistance.
In addition to asking Panesso to provide her with cocaine, Griselda reveals her plan to give away cocaine freebies to wealthy white people in tennis clubs, golf courses, and other leisure facilities.
Panesso flatly rejects her proposal. Suddenly, Papo storms into their yacht party and presses attendees not to buy coke from her.
However, Griselda refuses to back down and maintains her stance. Panesso, struck by her tenacity, declares himself to be her partner in front of Papo, leaving Griselda grinning.
'Griselda' is now streaming on Netflix.
