‘Griselda’ Review: Sofia Vergara shines in Netflix's unapologetically gory and riveting crime-drama series
Spoilers for 'Griselda' on Netflix
MIAMI, FLORIDA: Netflix has officially dropped all six episodes of the latest drama miniseries, ‘Griselda’ which follows the life of the Columbian drug lord, Griselda Blanco.
The lead of this series is none other than Sofia Vergara, and there’s no doubt that now, instead of being known for her work on ‘Modern Family,’ she will better be known for her work on ‘Griselda.’
One should be warned that ‘Griselda’ is not for the faint-hearted, as it goes beyond a regular series filled with cocaine and the occasional gunshot. ‘Griselda’ leaves no stone unturned when it comes to being unabashedly gory, bloody, and completely ruthless.
Sofia Vergara makes bold moves in ‘Griselda’
Nothing could possibly prepare a viewer for what’s coming in ‘Griselda,’ from the first episode until the end.
Another warning, it is best not to get attached to any character in this Netflix series, because their chances of surviving all six episodes are extremely slim, because that’s just how cutthroat of a series ‘Griselda’ is.
While there is a lot to look forward to in this drama series, Sofia Vergara steals the show. She is a mother, she is a lover, she is a fighter, she is a killer, she is a dealer, but most importantly, she’s Griselda Blanco, the godmother.
Most of the runtime when it comes to ‘Griselda,’ focuses on the star of the series, aka Vergara, who time and again proves she’s no longer a sitcom mom.
With every expression, every move, and every dialogue, Vergara is on a mission to stun the audience, and she does exactly that, over and over again. So, even if ‘Griselda’ doesn’t fall under the genre of your choice, it needs to be at the top of your list for the stunning actress.
The relationships formed in ‘Griselda’ leave a lasting impact
Loyalty plays a very important role when it comes to ‘Griselda’ on Netflix. While the character, Griselda Blanco, takes her time forming relationships in the series, not all of them stick until the very end.
Some die too soon, some are killed by Griselda herself, her rivals shoot some, and sometimes, they simply don’t earn the trust of the protagonist, despite being around for years, including Griselda’s lover, Dario.
One might constantly root for Griselda and Dario to make it to the end, but this miniseries isn’t a romantic one. Nevertheless, ‘Griselda’ has something for everyone, in every single episode.
‘Griselda’ is now streaming exclusively on Netflix
