'Grey's Anatomy' Season 16: Will Alex Karev and Richard Webber get their jobs back at Grey Sloan Hospital?

Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) and Richard Webber (James Pickens) were both unceremoniously shown the door as well. With the two booted out of the jobs, what will their future be on the show?

One of the longest-running television series, 'Grey's Anatomy', is all set to roll out its 16th season on ABC and fans just can't keep calm!

In the last season, the medical drama series ended with a shocking turn of events as the lead character Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) was fired from the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in the wake of insurance fraud.

The hospital, once known as Seattle Grace Mercy West, was merciless when it came to dealing with unlawful activities as not just Meredith but two other people had to also bear the brunt of the fiasco.

Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) and Richard Webber (James Pickens) were both unceremoniously shown the door as well. With the two booted out of the jobs, what does the future hold for them?

In a new still released by ABC, Alex looks forlorn and depressed. Well, it's no surprise, is it? The Season 15 finale left him in a tight spot as not only was he given the sack, but there is turmoil in his personal life too.

Alex's wife Jo Wilson Karev (Camilla Luddington) took a leave from Grey Sloan and went into depression after learning the truth about her birth. With no job, he needs more support from his wife but she is not around to help him and that will definitely take a toll on his mental state.

Meanwhile, Richard has his own set of troubles but there's a piece of good news for his character. Speaking to TVLine, showrunner Krista Vernoff promised the show was "earmarking an hour" for Richard this coming season. "We have a big episode for him this season. I don’t feel like he's quite been given his due," she said.

Will the two characters get their jobs back in the new season? 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 16 premieres next Thursday on September 26.

The first episode is titled 'Nothing Left to Cling To' and the summary reads: "Meredith, Richard, and Alex must deal with the consequences after Bailey fires them from Grey Sloan for insurance fraud." The future of their career seems to be hanging by a thread and there seems to be much drama in store for viewers.
