Gamora’s death in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ was undoubtedly one of the most heart-breaking moments in the Marvel’s history and the way it was depicted in the movie was even more upsetting. Without any guesses, her death affected the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ to the core, especially Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord. However, it seems the demise of Gamora will play an important role in the upcoming ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ movie as actor Chris Pratt believes that his character is not worthy of leading the team now.

Over the course of two movies, Pratt’s character has seen a lot of upsetting sequences. He has witnessed the loss of his mother and even dealt with the loss of Yondu, but Gamora’s (Zoe Saldana) death has completely changed him because she was the one who truly loved her and with her gone, he feels lost. Even though Gamora came back for the final battle in ‘Avengers: Endgame’, she doesn’t remember anything about her past, not even Peter’s name. After the battle with Thanos, Peter opened up about what he’s going to do next and Thor joining the team for the journey. However, Gamora is nowhere to be seen and there were no explanations about where she could have gone.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant at the San Diego Comic-Con, the ‘Terminal List’ discussed the upcoming movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and didn’t shy away from saying what kind of impact Gamora’s death has made on him. He added, “Gamora is the love of Star-Lord's life; the romantic love of his life. He's dealt with the loss of Yondu, and of course of his mother. And now he's dealing with the loss of Gamora, the one person he found who truly knew him and loved him. She doesn't know who he is. That's really had a profound impact on him personally, and his ability to be a leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy.”

The actor also explained that the movie sees him “vulnerable” to all the threats and that’s where the movie will start from because he’s dealing with an incomparable loss.

Well, if you have seen the footage that was shown at this year’s Comic-Con, then you know that the new version of Gamora doesn’t belong to the team ‘Guardians’. She seems to be a new entity and is now leading The Ravagers, a group of thieves and smugglers that was previously being led by Yondu. One of the scenes also saw Star-Lord trying to reconnect with Gamora even when she doesn’t have any idea who Peter is. With ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ being the last movie in the franchise, it will be interesting to see how James Gunn manages to give Peter a happy ending.

The third movie in the ‘GOTG’ franchise will see the team fighting a new menacing villain named High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji) and will also see Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) making an appearance.

Meanwhile, ‘Borat’ fame Maria Bakalova will be voicing the character of Cosmo the Spacedog in the upcoming movie.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ is scheduled to hit theatres on May 5, 2023.
