Apink announce their comeback for February 2022 as a six-member group with Son Naeun

All six members of the group Apink will make a comeback in 2022 with a new album after a year of hiatus

The year 2021 marks the tenth anniversary of Apink. The group debuted in 2011 as a seven-member group, but in 2013, Yookyung left the group leaving it as a six-member piece but the rest of the group was strong ever since.

Son Naeun shocked fans in 2021 when it was announced that the singer decided not to renew her contract with Apink’s label, IST Entertainment, and focus on her solo acting career but it seems like she did not leave Apink all along.

Back in April of 2021, it was announced that Naeun will still be a part of Apink that will work as a six-member group, and as of December 22, it was announced that the hexad is going to finally make a comeback in 2022. The label that manages the activities of the group made an official announcement stating that the six members of Apink will be making their official comeback in February of 2022.

Apink announces a new comeback

Apink has been on a hiatus since their last released album, 'Look', that dropped back in April 2020. Now, twelve months after that, Apink in coming back with their new album that releases in February of 2022. While the specific details of Apink’s comeback have not been revealed so far, the label hopes to release an official announcement soon. The one revealing factor that IST Entertainment highlighted in their official statement was the fact that member Son Naeun would be a part of the upcoming comeback and she will work on the album with her fellow group members.

Son Naeun, who left IST Entertainment in April of 2021 and joined YG Entertainment to focus on her acting career, will now be seen in the K-drama ‘Ghost Doctor’ alongside the likes of Rain (Jung Ji-hoon) and Kim Bum who both play doctors in the drama. The show is set to premiere on January 3 on tvN.



 

Apink’s 2021 projects

As of 2021, all other members of Apink, Chorong, Bomi, Eunji, Namjoo, and Hayoung except Naeun, chose to renew their contracts with IST Entertainment. They had last released their ninth mini-album ‘Look’ with the titled track, ‘Dumhdurum’, which was composed and written by Black Eyed Pilseung and Jeon Goon, who worked on many of the group's previous songs.

After the success of ‘Look,’ the girl group released a new digital single ‘Thank You’ on the occasion of their 10th anniversary back in April of 2021 and the five members of the group sans Naeun have been seen hanging out on their SNS accounts while Naeun is reportedly busy on other schedules. Meanwhile, Apink will hold their 2021 Fanmeeting titled ‘Pink Eve’ at the Daeyang Hall of Sejong University in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul on December 31.
