GOT7's Jay B gets a buzzcut like Jinyoung, sparks 'JJP enlistment' rumors

Fans worry as they believe that Jay B’s new haircut hints that JJP's military enlistment era will start soon

After fans waited for a long one year and three months for the members of GOT7 to find some time from their busy solo schedules to make a comeback, the boys finally released their six-track mini-album titled ‘GOT7’. The album preceded a lot of disbandment rumors but the boys completely shattered such rumors stating that they were not planning on disbanding anytime in the near future.

The album was released and immediately took over the world as the eponymous EP from GOT7 topped the iTunes album chart in a total of 83 countries and regions, including Thailand, Germany, India, Mexico, Brazil, and many more. The lead single ‘Nanana’ swept the iTunes song charts in 57 countries, including Colombia, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, and Singapore among others showing the boy group's unrivaled global domination.

Amid rumors about disbandment, members of the group have also candidly discussed enlistment plans and how they plan on releasing their future albums. Since all seven members of the group are managed by different labels, the members had stated that they would be making a comeback once every year as GOT7, the boy group. Depending on their schedules and availability, the period could even go as long as two years per album but fans were relieved to hear that the members were certain about staying together as a group.

On May 24, however, the leader and the newest CEO to come from the group, Jay B (Lim Jaebeom) shocked fans with his new haircut similar to JJP unit (JJ Project) member, Jinyoung. Jay B has been known to have long hair over the last few years which he usually only changed ahead of the group's comeback. This time, the member changed things up a bit and revealed a buzz cut during a fan call, a day after their comeback with ‘GOT7’ matching Jinyoung’s buzzcut. Jinyoung who has been active as an actor recently cut his hair for an upcoming project he has been working on.

When will GOT7's Enlistment era start?

Fans initially joked that Jinyoung looked as if he had just returned from the military but now it does seem like the enlistment era of GOT7 could be starting soon. Just like any other K-pop group, GOT7 would have to undergo military enlistment as soon as the members turn 28 years old. GOT7’s oldest member Mark, who is already 28 years old would not apply for enlistment since he is from Los Angeles, US. Jay B and Jinyoung, on the other hand, are the first of the four Korean-born members of the group who would have to start their military enlistments by the end of this year.

Out of the seven GOT7 members, members Mark and Jackson are exempted from military service. Meanwhile Thai-born, Bambam was already exempt from joining military service in Thailand when he turned 21. This leaves four Korean members of GOT7 -- Jay B, Jinyoung, Youngjae, and Yugyeom -- as the only members that will enlist in the military in the next few years to come.

'JJP Enlistment? I am not ready!'

Even though the members or their respective solo labels have not dropped any news about the boys starting their enlistment, fans believe that Jay B’s new haircut is a hint that the JJP enlistment era will start soon. One fan said, "JJP ENLISTMENT?! I AM NOT READY." Another fan said, "JJP matching hair you mean jjp matching enlistment year."

One more fan said, "Nawt the jjp enlistment theories bc of their haircuts." One fan said, "Jjp short hair now enlistment news is nearing TT." One more fan said, "JJp enlistment era coming guys!" One fan wondered,"What if jjp comeback before enlistment?" One more fan said, "Wdym jjp enlistment news is near." One fan declared, "I am not ready for jjp enlistment."
